It's not just the casual community that does that; the "hardcore" community does this too. People like to discredit AAA games simply because they're AAA titles. The most common one I've seen is about GTA.Gunstar Green wrote:Sometimes I get angry when some game series I enjoy does something that I don't like.oxymoron wrote:Is it just me or is disliking COD now the "cool" thing to do?
But I never really understood why people spend so much time and energy hating something they never liked to begin with.

Disagree with the well crafted part. I dislike GTA and COD games because the design is terrible I find them a chore to play.isiolia wrote:I don't think it's all that hard to see why people would like those, or other massively popular series. It doesn't mean you're obligated to like them too, since it's entertainment, and subjective.
Halo is dull aesthetically, but can be fun. No huge flops in the series. Though I find Halo Wars to be the best title and that isn't even a FPS game.
My opinions have nothing to do with being "cool." I was cool long before I had an opinion about any of these games.

Nothing wrong with having opinions and disliking or flat out hating things regardless of the reason.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Disagree with the well crafted part. It's only ridiculous when people hate that other people dare like things they don't.

All this talk of crappy internet connections in the year 2014 makes me glad I live in a densely populated continent
In other news, this article just made me realize how pointless next-gen feels right now.

You know what's bulllllllllllshit?
This semi-new trend among game publishers regarding the selective inclusion of instruction booklets. I see this mostly with PS3 and Vita games. Some games have full-blown instructions, some just have a page of warranty info, and/or some just have DLC fliers and ads. Many Vita games have nothing at all!
And for the first time ever, I recently purchased a new PS3 game (Best of PlayStation Network Vol. 1) with no instructions/fliers/anything. Nothing in the case but the disc. Had I stumbled upon the game used for a couple bucks at a thrift store I would have skipped it assuming it was "incomplete."
Also related, I purchased the BioShock Ultimate Rapture Edition yesterday, which has the first two games, bonus content for both, and some stickers... but no instructions! And this is the "ultimate" edition?!
I think this is why we need to go back to CD cases for games. Not only are they easily replaceable and more compact - but the instruction booklets also doubled as cover art. Makes it way easier to spot incomplete games in the wild.

On the one hand, that's the ugly side of capitalism, on the other hand consumers vote with their wallets. And their wallets say that if publishers keep devaluing the value of the physical product, consumers will just turn faster into digital distribution. Boxed PC games are so shit right now I don't bother buying them, unless they are cheaper than they go for on steam/gog (which is pretty common in Europe)

I hope my ideas on how terribly godawful GTA V is are at least seen as coming from a place of honesty instead of "lol blockbuster" elitism. XDoxymoron wrote:The most common one I've seen is about GTA.
