As a fighting game player, it confuses the hell out of me why people want Capcom to go with Nintendo.

Especially considering their fighting game devs are, like, THE ONLY thing Capcom has left. Everyone else jumped ship long ago.

I mean, I really don't want to have the streaming community and YouTube community for Capcom's fighters to just get shut down immediately, which I definitely see happening if Nintendo bought them.

I'm pretty sure if anyone buys them, it's just going to be just as bad as it is now if not worse. They'll just milk RE, MH and maybe bring MM back. That's about it. They'll make the same old games over and over just the same way that Atlus only does Persona games now, Koei only does Musou games, and Enix only does Dragon Quest stuff.

On one hand, for the most part Nintendo does about the best job of respecting its intellectual property while keeping the quality consistent than just about any other Japanese developer right now.

On the other hand Capcom franchises would most definitely be forced to become Nintendo exclusives and possibly wouldn't be treated with the same TLC as Nintendo's own franchises anyway.

It's hard for me to work up a damn about what happens to Capcom unfortunately. I've been tepid on them for years now.

As much as I would love to be a part of this, I'm too young to actually have any money to contribute. :(
So I wish you all good luck.

It would be a smart move for Microsoft or Sony to snatch them up and nail some more exclusives to their new systems.

All this. The best we can hope for is that the IPs are sold off to individual buyers.

Though the chaos on SRK would be hilarious if SF were to go Wii U exclusive.

I think this has been a long time coming, and for fans of Capcom's older games who were quietly shaking their heads in the corner, this is no surprise. Killing Mega Man, butchering the last few Resident Evil games, flat out refusal to resurrect old, popular IPs...just, why? What kind of sense does it make to deny your customers products they're willing to purchase?

Though I realize this isn't a flat out liquidation, I still find it sad, and I think it's a sign of things to come. Hopefully one of the big three will buy into the company and do some of their franchises justice.

Wouldn't it be cool to see Sega buy a controlling share and (along with newly-acquired Atlus) start to quietly build up to releasing new hardware?

Considering how often SEGA doesn't bother to localize even half their Japanese games for the past 7 years or so, no it wouldn't be very cool.
