Oh the germany game. seriously do footballers feel no shame? Muller should go into acting for his performance. Do these guys get criticized for doing shit like this?

It's like Americans generally can't cope with the fact that there's this one thing in the world that everybody cares about that isn't about them, that they're not the protagonists, and actually are not even that relevant.
Jfrost while what you say is true i can't take some of these players seriously with all the acting the do everytime they get touched. They barly get touched or don't get touched at all and they act like someone just hit them in the leg with a steel pipe then get back up and run around like nothing happened.

I'm liking this sport but that's the biggest thing that pisses me off is watching that bullshit. And its one of the reasons why the sport hasn't taken off in America especially with older people.

Yep, they're criticized for diving. Mueller I imagine probably didn't feel so swell getting popped in the mouth by Pepe, but then again, Pepe lost his cool and I'm okay with him being sent off. That's what ZeroAX likes about our team, we don't fall unless we're knocked down. Dempsey dives from time to time.

I don't think that's necessarily the mainstream view here by a lot of Americans. And Kimmel's video is mocking a lot of American culture, too. The buildup of a soccer match is much akin to a hockey game, and the sport is fundamentally the same. There's a lot more little intricacies that make the competition as a whole feel close. There's a lot more that keeps things in balance. A team can go out, massacre their first opponent, then lose their last two matches and technically not advance merely by points. Ending in a draw and the way points are assigned for matches keeps it competitive and ups the drama.

For example, Germany shelling Portugal helps our chances. If we draw beat Ghana, draw Portugal, and don't get bludgeoned by Germany, our chances of going through to the next round increase dramatically. The United States and its sports leagues always want a definitive winner in everything in every game played. Is this just a form of escapism because nothing else in life is like this? I think having matches end in draws ups the tension, makes the competition more lively, and opens up opportunities for other teams to sneak in and win it all when others start to let their performances slip.

The diving is unfortunately ingrained in a lot of them and it's the physical teams that don't succumb to it have higher character. It's about what you can sell to the referee, and sometimes it's a not so high point in the game.

It's the fault of FIFA for allowing diving. When a player is touched on the leg and he's holding his head it's borderline insulting to everyone on the field and watching from home.

And I won't hide, our team is just as guilty of it. Of course we are nowhere near as bad as the Spaniards who are the best actors in international football.

Also the game between Iran and Nigeria is the worst thing of the tournament so far :/

Yeah, Iran and Nigeria was pretty bad. Nigeria really needed 3 points there to get out of the group. Bosnia Herzegovina won't be a pushover at all.
