Opening Up My Sega CD Model 1

So I've taking apart my Sega CD Model 1, and I'm not sure how to take the disc tray off/out.

This is where I have it right now:


Taking off the black top-piece, or well the actual tray should reveal this:

Can anyone lend their expertise in removing the disc tray?

I will suggest strongly not to. The thing fits together very tightly and specifically. If you take the disc tray apart you'll be fidgeting for ever to get it back in. And if you do it wrong, in a matter of time it falls out of alighnment and the discs won't seat properly and won't play.

Oh the exact issue that arises from doing this is the problem you're having!!!

well get all the shielding out of the way, including that on the right. Just to give yourself space.

Now there are a few screws holding the main part of it down, remove them and you should be able to pull it out, you may have to slide the tray open slightly to get to the screws and to lift it out.

Don't forget to disconnect the cables from it as well... the slots are these slide slots with plastic pressure tabs on them. Carefully pull back the two white plastic bits to loosen the cable and slide it out. DON'T FORCE. To put them back in just slide into slot and push the plastic tabs in.

Now to repair it... just refer to what the guy said in that past thread.
