by far the easiest was to get sphere levels (and spheres) is the monster arena. You can net 90+ levels on one character, and 40-50 on the other two, in just one fight.
If you are feeling burned out, Id just go get that stuff and down sin. You are probably already strong enough

Re: RPG Progress Report
Don't you have to capture tons of monsters? Then do stuff to get special weapons? Not sure.
Only problem is that underwater boss before you get Anima, has that stonepunch. Not sure if I have any equipment on Tidus, Rikku, or Wakka that prevents that for some reason lol.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Yeah, you have to capture a ton of dudes, like 5 of every one. And yeah, then you have to make custom gear just to grind. Its quite tedious. And... to be honest, the super bosses in the game are silly, not all that fun to fight. You aren't missing out on much.
I would say add "Ribbon" to your gear, but iirc that requires 99 dark matter, which would require more monster capturing.
I think Stoneproof is a thing, but I have no idea what it requires to put on gear.
Have you tried Quick Hit spam? Or, if you really want to cheese ut, go into the fight withh all characters/aeons at max OD. Or Yojimbo his ass.

I could but remember it's a water fight, so I only have Tidus, Wakka, Rikku, heh.
Stoneproof... ugh yeah you're right, I should mess with the customization more. I'm betting Soft's are used for that which aren't hard to get.
It's funny that I felt a bit burned out with Lost Odyssey towards the end as well. I ended up getting all the achievements for that one, and I feel it was a bit better when it opened up (FFX on the other hand, it's been a bit tedious remembering which places connect to which, etc). But yeah, I guess it's a bit disorienting when a game is 110% linear for hours (guess we're talking like 30+), but then opens up a lot later on. Maybe it's just me lol.

Re: RPG Progress Report
I agree, there is just something exhausting about a linear game opening up that far in. Final Fantasys always had a nice amount of end-game, but the lack of world map made it just feel like backtracking, instead of new exploration.
In both X and XIII, I had a really hard time pushing through the point where they open up.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Yeah I was going to mention XIII as well, definitely fits the bill.
"Backtracking" truly is the best way to put it. It's just... very different than the FF games before. Heck, even FFXII was better in this regard (but some linearity and more story would have helped there haha).
I beat that boss and got Anima though. So next up Magus Sisters and then I'll probably run through the end.
I'm not sure what FFX-2 is like and I'm interested in checking it out, but I'll probably take a break before that one.

Ys
Finished up Vageux-Vardette, which is an outdoor "dungeon" exclusive to the DS port. It's alright. In the abandoned mine now!

Re: RPG Progress Report
Time for the Final Fantasy V Four Job Fiesta. Last year I got one of the worst possible teams: Thief, Berserker, Geomancer and Dragoon.
First job this year: Black Mage. Awesome, looking much better.
EDIT: Second job - Mystic Knight.
It's like Gilgabot feels guilty for giving me such a crappy team last year. This year is looking like a quick run!

The infamous bat boss is pretty easy in the DS port.
In Darm Tower now.

Re: RPG Progress Report
3rd Four Job Fiesta job: Bard!
Between Black Mage, Mystic Knight and Bard, this is DEFINITELY a much easier run then last year. I might try and take Omega on this time!
