There are many cases where players got the nationality of the country they played in for many years.

That is fine. If you hold German nationality, then you can play for Germany. They chose to play for Germany, so it is obvious that they consider themselves German. When I watch Germany play, I know I am watching real Germans play but with a hint of Turkish, Polish and African flavour. That is what makes their team rather special.

Of course I believe it's fine when people are born in the country, or grow up there, I just think it's silly when they move to the country to be professional football players, live there for 5 years, and then get citizenship just to play in the national team. Not to mention that it's unfair to all those immigrants living for years without citizenship, while these people get it easily just so the national team can do better.

I'd say today's games aren't that interesting, though I will watch team USA's game cause I really enjoy the way you guys play.

It's similar in Greece too....actually I think it's like that all over western Europe.
