I got a second PS4 Alpha code if anyone needs one.

I may actually try it out for one go if you want to play today sometime

So this is Borderlands with a fresh coat of paint? I think I'll pass. The boss fight with the eye-thingy looked boring.

So I played this for an hour or so. Honestly:

Nothing really special here in my opinion. Kind of felt like same ole, same ole. I think they are focusing on the multi-player here?? Did a mission, got bored, decided I wanted to play more Tomb Raider Definitive. No story to speak of made it seam pointless. Looked okay I guess, but it is a PS4 game so it should look okay. Glad I played the Alpha, now I know better than to drop 60 bucks on this. Maybe I expected too much of it, but it felt like too many other games with a shiny coat of paint.

I really did not think it was much better than Defiance. Kind of felt like it. Actually, Destiny had less story LOL. If I had never played anything like this before I would have been happy with it. But been there, done that give me a reason to want to do it again.

There will hardly be any story right now, it is an alpha build... This is mostly to test gameplay and server loads.

I played for a few hours and enjoyed myself. Gameplay has that Halo vibe to it. I ran several missions to level 6. I then ran a few PVP matches which was 6 on 6 where you capture nodes and build up team scores by controlling the nodes. We won the first match and lost the 2nd and it bumped me to level 7. I like how PVE and PVP elements mix and skills and loot you earn will transfer to either mode. It has kept my interest and my pre-order. I am not blown away, but I am satisfied.

I really hope Bungie pours a lot into the lore and story/setting, otherwise... I can't see this doing much for me. Just not all that interested in more Borderlands-esque kind of games or dungeon crawlers thesedays.

Played a bit yesterday and it felt like Borderlands + Halo to me, thought it was great. I may have some more time tonight to play if anyone's down. John I may have to PM you, I don't think I have your PSN.

John and Stark (and anyone else), are you up for a doing the Devil's Lair assault run together tonight? I finally sunk a little bit of time into it and have just about have hit the alpha level cap with my Warlock, so thought maybe I'd try that mission with another class if y'all would be down. Maybe 10pm or 11pm EST?

I like it so far - the Halo + Borderlands comparison that has been floating around seems pretty fair at points, but there are also plenty of moments where the game seems to be clearly its own thing. I like the range of guns and the feel of the engine quite a bit - it is clear that Bungie knows what they are doing here. I'm not experiencing any lag or anything either, so the experience has been very smooth (except for one enemy that didn't fall down/blow up/disappear after he was killed).

Does anyone know how long the Alpha runs?

Also, I still have one Alpha code if anyone wants one...

EDIT: oh, it may end soon http://kotaku.com/destiny-alpha-gets-da ... 1591367784
