I like how Codename STEAM is a bit less tedium than most tactics games. You're always in the battle mode, splitting the missions like level splits. It's nice. I approve, though I don't think it'll sell well. Unless people really do give it a chance because it's by Fire Emblem devs.

Therein lies the problem since Fire Emblem never sells well in the US either. Unfortunately, the game is destined to bomb. However, I know I'll be buying it Day 1.

I watched a bit of gameplay earlier and I'm coming around a little. The gameplay will be good and definitely gives me a Valkyria Chronicles feel. Just still iffy on the art direction, gives it a cheap shovelware look to it but maybe I'll warm up to it.

This is a 2015 game right?

I suppose it depends what you qualify as well. Awakening sold 390,000 units in the US as of September 2013, which Nintendo seemed pretty happy with overall. It's no GTA5, but it's pretty good for an SRPG series.

It was also the best selling game in the series :P. If you add the Japanese and European sales it probably sold around a million units. Not bad at all 8)

Yes that was what turned me off too. Nintendo has such a great eye for art direction usually. I have no idea why this game looks so....cheap.

Well they did say they were going for a steampunk/comic book feel. Which from looking at what they showed is a amazing combination and a day one purchase....especially because it has the workings of a great japanese game that could fool people that it was a american made game(I feel like I've seen characters in game somewhere that looked similar in a mmo I played before i got out of playing mmo's for awhile)

Here is the thing, people have constantly been crying out for Nintendo to bring them new IPs. They are going to get a brand new IP that is going to be fun, engaging and a great spin on a familiar genre of strategy... and it most likely will not sell well. Why? Because, when people say they want a new IP, they really mean they want an old IP done differently. They want another game re-imagined like Metroid Prime.

Do I feel that this game is going to be awesome? Most definitely! Will I get it? It is almost assured. Do I feel it will be a successful new IP? I want it to be, but I don't think it will.

Well we're at least getting one IP reimagined(zelda u) so at least some of those people might be happy. At least I will be....but about time we did get at least one new ip. Now if only they'd bring the console mario experience we had from n64 to wii to 3ds I'd be really happy(and i don't mean a port). I will be buying codename steam though because honestly what people criticize most about it right now is what I really like about it ha ha
