Share Parenting Resource Websites/Books

Post by Nyukki »

So my boy is coming up to nine months and up until now, apart from playing with the guy, I've left most of the important parenting stuff up to my wife and mother in law. I've decided to get a bit more pro-active and help out more.

We have loads of parenting books at home but they're all in Chinese. So instead of pouring over them with a dictionary in the other hand I did some googling for English websites. I was shocked and suprised to see how "normal" my kid is and it was reassuring to understand reasons as to why he can be so whingy and annoying at times. After a quick search the best website I found was parentmap.com, but for some reason none of the pictures seem to load where I am.

I wanna find a more comprehensive resource that details month by month and/or week by week development. Specifically I want to find out what he's supposed to eat, what he's supposed to be able to do and advice as to what I can do to help stimulate mental development. Would love to hear recommendations on websites/books other parents here have found useful.

Just for jokes, here's some pics of the little dude:

While their are general timing guidelines keep in mind that every kid is different and will reach milestones differently. My oldest, now 11, never crawled for example. Some will potty train and walk sooner then others while the others might reach different milestones first. One book I liked to reference was What To Expect The First Year and What To Expect The Second Year. They also now have a website at whattoexpect.com. It's a decent resource.
