Well, I already have the bubble hockey table, but my basement is essentially a pub, so....

King, do you like playing Crossfire? Think of it as Crossfire with more strategy.

Where are you finding a table anyway? Most places dont carry they Haylex one anymore.

I'd think American, but i'm not sure of all the differences.

The one I had as a kid had larger corner pockets, made of mesh and a checkerboard design in the middle. I've seen some with much smaller corner pockets, different inlay designs, and some have been hexagonal. So long as the main carrom game is playable and it's a quality board, i'm interested. If it comes with more playing options - all the better.

You want an American Carrom board then. Indian Carroms has small pockets and a large striker. American Carrom boards are made by the Carrom company and you just get the same one everyone has:

Now you can get rid of the rings and buy a set of real carroms, but then you will have to dust your board with cornstartch/carrom powder for almost every play. The only other option is a custom built board. The Hilinski brothers will build you one, but it will be expensive. Ive thought about building one myself, since more people will play American Carroms due to the ease of scoring, but Ive never had luck with Carabana wax.

My Indian Carrom board is not the best, but it is a Synco Tournament made out of 14mm Indian Ply over Birch. It plays identical to board twice the price, but does not look as cool. It still cost me about $300 a couple years ago. The best place to get an Indian board is from http://www.billiboard.com/.

I also highly suggest Crokinole, if you want another good dexterity game (its the backside of the American Carrom board with the pegs), or Pitchcar if you want a fun project.

Saw one at Goodwill earlier today. Thinking I might pass, basements getting a little full and I might have to choose between that and new bags for my cornhole set. Cornhole might get more use with the nice weather, plus kids are out of school now and the wife's home most of the day so it makes it harder for sneaking, I mean putting new toys into the basement.

Not exactly. It's a box that was used to send me a slot car I won on ebay. I'm all for recycling boxes and it protected the car fine. I'm just amused.
