"Overrated" seems weird to me. General consensus that I recall is that it was a flawed game with a really cool core concept. People want a sequel because there's a lot of room for improvement and refinement that could craft it into a genuinely great title.J T wrote:Naysayers gonna naysay.dsheinem wrote:It's predecessor is so overrated.J T wrote:New Mirror's Edge looks like it might live up to the potential of its predecessor:
It is the best first person platformer of all time. It just should have stayed a parkour running game and not had shooting segments that forced you to stop running and broke the flow. But no other first person game has ever had such fluidity of motion.

The interviews were really boring though. Specially that Yoshi onegraffix_13 wrote:Honestly, in my opinion, this is the right way to do a presentation. Their intro was really just that; an intro. We are seeing non-stop Wii U stuff right now and it is pretty cool.
I hope Sony and Microsoft follow suit and take a page out of Nintendo's conference.

I definitely enjoyed the style of Nintendo's presentation. However, we will miss out on the hilarious fumbles that occur during a "live" presentation.graffix_13 wrote:Honestly, in my opinion, this is the right way to do a presentation. I honestly thought all 3 did well and brought the goods for their fans. Only bad thing was that the 2014 linups seem a little thin. Microsoft probably has the strongest fall lineup IMO. Here's a couple quick thoughts from my POV...
Microsoft:
Positives
-Halo Collection looks really cool and definitely has my interest.
-The entire show was built around games and not on other features.
Negatives
-Cool new action exclusive from Platin...uh...um that doesn't look that exciting to me. =/
-That Conker tease....
Sony:
Positives
-White PS4 holy shit do want.
-Grim Fandango!? Never played, heard great things, will buy.
-Show closed strong with Batman, MGS5, and an uncharted teaser. Saving the best for last it seems.
Negatives
-Presentation felt too long, with a big lull in the middle where they talked about PS Now, VR, Sharing, and some TV show.
-The Order 1886 doesn't look very impressive at all.
-The "only on PS" thing is getting a little out of hand.
Nintendo:
Positives
-Captain Toad game OMG yes!
-New Zelda looks and sounds great, raises a few questions too.
-Presentation was fun and to the point, Treehouse segments were really insightful and a great watch. Without them I doubt I would be as interested as I am in Splatoon.
Negatives
-Dragon Quest VII? =[
-Devil's Third lives!...and needs to go back in the oven for a while.
-I have to wait til October for Bayonetta.

Fantasy Life for 3DS looks awesome, but the people demoing it on Treehouse are killing me. The Blonde woman saying "exactly" every 5 seconds is excruciating.

but... Splatoon... is... a... new... IP?????There was a whole load of stuff for Nintendo fans, and even something new in Splatoon – a sort-of-shooter about spaffing ink everywhere, rather than getting kills for points.
[...]
But Nintendo has to fight a lot of bad blood from gamers on the internet these days, and until it announces a new IP – or something completely innovative for the Wii U – it’s just not going to able to appeal to anyone but the hardcore Nintendo fans.

Screw journalists, they're impossible to satisfy.
I think there are loads of cool stuff at E3 this year and we have a lot to look forward to. I believe Jack Tretton said it best that gamers have tons of choices, probably more choices than time.
