It's not what you think, it's just 1 minute of my normal review and then 15 minutes of playing it after several beers and a lot of whiskey. Just wanted to do something different.

You've really been cranking out some good videos lately. I've enjoyed them all early in the morning while taking care of my little one. Always a fun way to start the day.

Contra III was always one of those games that made me annoyed that Mode 7 exists because without it they probably would have had some more awesome side-scrolling levels.

Granted I agree that they're not the worst thing in the world like a lot of people make them out to be.

This is kind of a compliment and not a dig at the game though, because the only reason the overhead levels piss me off is because all of the other levels are so damned good. Contra III is the gold standard action game of the SNES. Super Turrican 2 is one of the only other run'n guns on the console that comes close.

You hit it on the head. The other levels are just so imaginative and cool as hell (sadly in the video I didn't even get to the point in the game where you're hanging off a giant missile with one hand as you're shooting a giant enemy warship which is pretty much the greatest thing ever)

But the mode-7 levels aren't that different from the top-down levels in the original Contra. Did people make a big stink at the time about that too?

It does indeed seem fun. And I'm guessing the carts go for cheap?
