I think it's time I try to attack my zelda 1....I'm going to take a break from ff1 and come back to it later. May play ys again instead of trying to get through ff1 for a few weeks. Plus I just want to make it through the game that started the zelda franchise

1. Jet Grind Radio (DC)
2. Skies of Arcadia (DC)
3. Final Fantasy VIII (PSX)
4. Legend of Zelda (NES)
5. Samba de Amigo (DC)
6. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (DC)
7. Super Mario World (SNES)
8. Metal Gear Solid (PSX)
9. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (PS3)
10. Grandia II (DC; Finish It!)

Two Down. I still love Final Fantasy VIII and believe it and VII are my favorites. I'm thinking it's time to move to something more modern and I'm going to pick up Drake's Fortune.

Just remembered how much I suck at the original legend of zelda. No matter if I play vc or the real deal(and would rather play the cart since I have it) I still stink at it. I keep trying to find hearts early on because I remember the trouble I've had with the first boss(the map included helped me get there again, and I've used online maps before to help me get around). Half tempted to grind for rupees for the shield....

Do you have all the Alucard set equipped? That seems to give some hefty stat boosts.

When I played him, I needed to hack at him for about 5 minutes before he was dead, and the lightning bolts he shot did about 80-100 damage of my 350 or so hp.
You need the Alucard shield and shield rod equipped.

Pressing the attack and shield buttons at the same time activates the shield. At this point the shield itself becomes a weapon. Touching enemies with it drains their health and restores yours.

Behold!

Oh, I see.

I didn't have the Alucard shield at that point (I went around the castle clockwise from the bottom, so I'd only really explored the outer left edge of the castle), and I never actually used the Alucard Shield with the shield rod. By the time I got it, the bosses were such a joke it seemed like overkill.

I started Thief Gold and finished the first mission (getting the scepter). I like it so far, though I am not sure if the game will sustain my interest for as long as it is supposed to be (20+ hours). Time will tell. It is certainly more visually compelling than EotB, though.

Are there any worthwhile graphics packs for upping the textures and resolution, and are they easy to install and run through Steam (and stable)?

I need to try and get back to Shantae as soon as the E3 hype rush is done. I also intend to get started on Bangai-O this weekend.

I beat 4 games in May (whoa - productive!) and I'm aiming for 3 this month (Shantae, Bangai-O, Ristar) because I have FF5 to play too.

Then I want to beat at least 2 next month (Metal Gear Solid 2 and Super Aleste, both of which I expect will take a while), leaving just one game for August (the big one - Tactics Ogre).

I really want to do all 10 this time. My record is 9!

1. Mega Man 2 (NES) Beaten
2. The Legend of Zelda (NES) Beaten
3. Star Tropics (NES)
4. Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest (NES) Beaten
5. Earthbound (SNES)
6. Panzer Dragoon Saga (Saturn)
7. Metroid: Other M (Wii)
8. Silent Hill 3 (PS3 HD Re-release)
9. Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) Beaten
10. Final Fantasy 9 (PS1) Beaten

Completed Zelda today and can't help but be a bit disappointed. The overall cryptic-ness of the game really hampered my experience with it, and I felt I had to use guides for several parts just to continue on with the game (or else abandon it). I know it's par for the course for the NES era, but it seemed like the developers were just taking a dump on the player with some of the hidden items/dungeons. Only after struggling through this one do you really start to appreciate just how fantastic Link to the Past is and what an overall better gaming experience it truly is.

Sick and tired of the NES, so moving onto the 7th generation with Metroid: Other M and then Silent Hill 3!
