What is up with all these video game movies that no one asked for? Seriously, a Sonic movie? Does anyone not born in the 80's even care about this character anymore? The glut of garbage games he's been involved with for the past ten years have basically killed the character, or at least they have for me. Why not a Halo movie? Or Bioshock? Metal Gear Solid? Gears of War? Oh yeah, because you can't market those movies to young children...

A movie and/or an FPS remake of Dig Dug would rule.

On topic, I didn't read much of the article in OP but a Sonic movie sounds terrible. I pretty much lost all interest in Sonic as soon as he learned to talk.

To be fair, Sonic has been back on the rise lately with Colors and Generations. Those were both great games.

And all those other series you mentioned have been rumored to be adapted into feature films, but always seem to fall through. Maybe because studios feel they're too tough to appeal to fans and shit. I think Sonic would be pretty easy to cinematize and appeal to mass audiences and fans alike.

My five year old nephew is going to go bonkers for this.

He is a big sonic fan. I've seen him spend hours watching sonic clips on youtube.

I am not a fan of the later games.

But I do have sonic generations. He's spending the summer with me and he wants to play it every day. And I mean every day.

At least this game is okay. I dont own sonic 2006 and Black knight. And I dont plan to. Otherwise I'll never hear the end of it.

Even now, I'm still beating levels for him in generations.

There's a new generation of sonic fans, my nephew included. Sega would be stupid not to cash in on their mascot.

I dont know if I'll ever take him to see it at the theater, but I sure as hell will pirate a copy for him when it comes out.

Its barely been announced and already there is tons of pissing and moaning. Shocking.

I am happy to hear this news and will be seeing the movie.
