So anything exciting announced for the Vita last night?

nope

Thought so. It's a shame, another Sony handheld with much more potential than what it was able to deliver....still willing to get one when they fall in price more though.

Depending on what kind of games you enjoy, the Vita is either great or a wasteland. Myself, I love Japanese niche-y games, so I'm really happy with what's come out so far for the Vita, and what's coming soon for it. And if you are into Western indie titles on the go, again the Vita is a good time.

However, if you were hoping the Vita would be a portable AAA port machine (as Sony made it out to be back in 2012), yeah you're just gonna be disappointed. I mean, I'm very disappointed in how Sony is treating the Vita in the West. But I'll stop there before I go off on a three paragraph rant.

I knew what I was getting into when I bought my Vita 2000 a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't be happier with what's out there and there is still enough coming up to keep me busy. I will probably buy a Vita TV day one when it launches in the US. Region free also means you can at least import if Sony abandons the platform in your territory.

Keep in mind that games that require touch rear screen, camera, microphone, or gyro inputs won't work with the Vita TV. And unfortunately there are some games that are 99% button controlled yet have occasional weird sequences requiring one of these features to progress. Due to this I think there's going to be some pissed off Vita TV buyers now and then.

Games can also just plain not support the thing. I think there are some that the JP region does and the US does not for instance, though maybe it'll get patched in now that it's officially coming out here.

I think you can get the front/rear touch via the L3/R3 to bring up a cursor. Not adequate for twitch stuff using them, but it's a way some stuff can still work.

I'm ok with this. It still plays a lot of the Vita titles I want it to. PSP and PS1 games are nice too. And you can't beat that $99 price tag.

I asked the same question. It's been confirmed it does play Vita cards.

that is interesting then. And at least poses it as a really good alternative to something like Ouya or Amazon's Kindle TV or even a higher end Roku. Good to know.
