I guess. Just seems odd to me to buy a game and give up on it the day it's released.darsparx wrote:Well maybe he was hoping for a improvement over the last game(though I enjoyed bastion so I'm going to have to get transistor)

You're off your rocker dude. Transistor is great and so is Bastion.Gamerforlife wrote:Transistor

But Bastion sucked too, so no surprise there

Re: Games Not Beaten 2014
May update:
Games not beaten:
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros. 3DS
Phantasy Star Online PC
Double Dragon NES
Off the list: Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
On the list: Double Dragon
Still beating games pretty consistently so far this year. Double Dragon is my next target for my summer challenge, so I hope it's off this list by the end of June. Otherwise I just need to get back to Mario & Luigi sometime soon!

Explain to me what exactly is great about Transistor, other than it's amazing ability to crash PS4s on a regular basis.Stark wrote:You're off your rocker dude. Transistor is great and so is Bastion.Gamerforlife wrote:Transistor

On another note, throwing Infamous Second Son into this thread. The game goes downhill once you run into that stupid Fetch character, not that the game was necessarily blowing me away to begin with. Meh. So much mediocrity on the PS 4. Maybe I went with the wrong next gen system, or maybe I've simply outgrown video games. I honestly can't remember the last video game I've played that I genuinely had a great time with. Everything I play seems so bland, uncreative, uninspired, and annoying. I just don't know where to find truly great games anymore

You seem to have many of the same reactions I have when you play modern games. Maybe stick to retro stuff for awhile?

For me, that answer was handhelds. I'd have been miserable last gen without the DS and PSP. Vita and 3DS are doing a pretty good job now.Gamerforlife wrote:Everything I play seems so bland, uncreative, uninspired, and annoying. I just don't know where to find truly great games anymore

When I read this, it makes me curious to know what you find as creative and inspired? Everyone finds entertainment and enjoyment from a slew of different outlets. Maybe with some more info on what you do enjoy could help find you some more modern games that you may like?Gamerforlife wrote: I honestly can't remember the last video game I've played that I genuinely had a great time with. Transistor: I don't/haven't had any issues with crashing the game, so I can totally understand that coloring your opinion. The game is visually and aurally just a treat, the music and the way everything is presented is perfect. Add that to a unique mash-up of real-time and turn-based strategy, where you have to mix and match skills to one-up enemies and I'm in heaven.Gamerforlife wrote:Explain to me what exactly is great about Transistor, other than it's amazing ability to crash PS4s on a regular basis.Stark wrote:You're off your rocker dude. Bastion: I get that many (yourself included) found the game to be uninspired in it's combat. That was a fair criticism, but while I found the combat to be nothing special, I certainly didn't hate it and loved the "weight" of the weapons and the narration on top. Add that too some great atmosphere and just flat out awesome music and aesthetics and I'm there.
inFamous - Second Son: I had the opposite reaction in that I didn't feel like the game really opened up and got fun until you get to Fetch. I have some issues with that game as well, but it got a lot better once you got neon powers IMO.

On to my list:
FF1 - fun game but, man I wish I could walk around without so many encounters and low exp gains(I feel like the origins version may be the switch I need to do just to play it because I think that one doesn't have such a high encounter rate).
Think I may switch to zelda just so I can knock the others off my list and come back to this one later....

^I didn't think PSP FF1 had that high of an encounter rate. Keep pushing dood, you can do it!
