So I got to play some more of MK8 today, finally.

I still don't like that you can't hold an item behind you and pick up a second item, but oh well.

When I honk the horn close to some one, they jump. Does that actually do anything? I mean, anything besides them jumping?

no it doesn't do anything except make them physically jump. It is a cute little thing though isn't it!?

Speaking of cute... this game could lose some.

This might be just me, personally, but I'm not too fond of all the wacky tacky karts and bikes. It seems like there's just one or two "normal" karts and bikes, then the rest are all wacky. And all the tire and parasail upgrades are retarded. I don't want a rainbow or sunflower parasail! It sucks that some of the upgrades with better stats look stupid. Did they do that on purpose?

But that's just nitpicking, the game is awesome. I just have to win the Special Cup in the 100cc class, then I'm off to 150cc.

This is hands down the best Mario Kart game ever made. Didn't try to reinvent the wheel and added some really fun new maps.

Wasn't necessarily a dig at Nintendo, it is what it is.

Quick negative comments:
Battle mode is almost completely pointless.

Boomerang is the worst item. I'd rather have coins.

The 59FPS stutter is becoming more obvious to me the more I play. Needs patched.

Speaking of needing patched, the bunny hop boost extending behaviour should be removed. It's made all time trials annoying to watch.

No true ending ceremony is bizarre. I've already had the chance to watch my replay, why do I want it as my "reward"?

The credits video is an exceptionally low quality encode.

The choice of characters is awful. A dozen babies and koopa kids, not to mention the worst character in MK history: Pink Gold Peach.

Positive comments:
All karts and bikes seem viable in online play. Time trials clearly favor heavy and fast karts, but it's been that way since the SNES.

The online is handled well.

Multiplayer Grand Prix is great.

Music is awesome.

First off, I agree with the battle mode. I do not agree with the boomerang, it is a very effective and awesome item. you can throw it in front and behind you and can hit the enemy twice in one throw.

The bunny hop/extra boost thingy doesn't necessarily need to be patched. It isn't like snaking on the DS where it is hard to pull off and provides a mind-boggling advantage. If it gets patched, cool.

Also, congratulations on being the only human to be able to count 59 frames in a second and differentiate it from 60, you truly have a gift.

I do wish there was a proper ending ceremony, but that isn't that big of a deal.

Who cares about the ending credits video and how it is encoded?

The roster is not bad. There are 5 baby characters and 7 koopa kids, all of which have varying weight classes and look different. Pink Gold Peach...not the best choice...but there are tons of other options. It is not as if you have that as your only option.

Yes, in a world where you have no obstacles, no items and no one to play against, a faster vehicle is preferable. What is your point? A slower vehicle should do better in a time trial?
