really this is unacceptable for me in a shelving solution.
Just curious, what do you find wrong with these?

Does anyone know a good search term for "plank of wood I need to create an additional shelf on an existing shelf"? I am striking out.

Why do you need a search term? Just go down to Lowe's Depot or your local lumber yard and get a piece of pine. Some hardware stores will even carry what you need. If you go to a lumber yard, just give them the dimensions of one of the shelves and they'll match it up as close as they can (thickness doesn't matter if it doesn't match exactly, within reason - width matters only if you can't rip it down - you'll just have to cut the length yourself). If you go to Lowe's or Home Depot, you'll pretty much be on your own because even if you can't find some one to help you it's hit or miss if you get an idiot or some one that actually knows a thing or two.

I actually found a shelf that was exactly what I needed off eBay once. But it took far more searching effort than to just make one myself would have. I'd say take Ziggy587's advice on this.

For what it's worth, the bookshelves that I was talking about in an earlier post from Wal-Mart, are on sale right now for like $15 bucks. They are a waste of space if you align your games to the front of the shelf (since they are so deep), but if you have the room to buy 3 or 4 of them, they can look pretty cool. And for $15, that's decent.
