How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?

Sans a few games (Dreamcast) games can be had for under $25, the majority of games are usually $10 and under. Speaking of Cannon Spiker theres 2 listings on Amazon one for nearly $500 and 1 pushing a $1000 .... I remember not along ago Illbleed was going for $80 and up range it now seems to be coming down a bit.

RE 3 is around the $20-30 mark (excluding shipping). I am not sure why this game is priced so high. Its probably on every platform out there including digital downloads. I believe it is not rare at all and isn't in any way special. I think it isa a direct port from PSX era which means it does not have any extra features to it.

Bioshock Inifnite+Skyrim Bundle is currently $30 on amazon, how does RE3 fetches about the same price? It doesn't make nay sense. If each game for the Dreamcast in used condition is going to cost me $20-30, and many of those games are availible else where as digital downloads for $5-10, it doesn't make any sense to play the dreamcast other than for nostalgia I guess.

There are still some platforms that are dirt cheap for the budget retro gamer.

In the case of RE3, there is obviously demand for the game and people are willing to pay the price for it as well.

The DC port of RE3 is actually more of a port of the PC version. Both of them have the ability to choose character costumes at the start of the game without having beaten it first, and 2 exclusive costumes. Also, The Mercenaries minigame is also available at the start.

In 2002, I paid $10-$15 for it used, so the current price isn't too far off.

In 2002 it was just as old as Skyrim, I would consider Skyrim a bargain for $10. Did you get it used or brand new?

Any way, the price doubled for an old game. I can understand if this was like Eternal Darkness, a game that has no prequels or sequels and is only on the NGC and very defining of the NGC.

The point is, don't you think $20-30 per retro game is expensive? Thats like $200 for 10 games, I really wouldn't pay any more than $10 for anything PS2 or older (used) . If current gen. games are sold for $10 why older ones should be more expensive, unless its like a rare game or special edition.

Used, at FuncoLand. Remember them? That was also the place I got Spawn and Power Stone for $9.99 used a few months earlier. Nearby was a Coconuts Music & Movies, and I had got Project Justice brand new for $19.99 around the same time. Little did I know that game would be 3-4 times the price many years later.

I got Eternal Darkness complete for around $25 last year on eBay, which I believe at the time was a rather lowball price. It's just so in-demand because of how good it's supposed to be.

I got Shenmue complete for $10.50 in 2005, and MvC2 complete for $10.50 in 2004, both on eBay. DC is still cheap to collect for, as long as it's something not terribly popular these days. (or a fighting game/something made by Capcom)

I dont have the exact # but i would say about 70% of the Dreamcast games are (used) under $15. You then have about 20% in the 30ish range. Then theres the Project Justices, Cannon Spike, Bangai-O (this one has come down recently) and the such. There can be spikes in the prices at times. I still think the system is relatively cheap to collect for overall if one desires to. Some of these games are actually somewhat rare.

I've been playing the tits off of my dreamcast lately.


Tried out Heavy Metal Geomatrix, based on a suggestion from Crono. Pretty cool little game, always surprised to see 3D work so well in a game like this, especially pre-ps2. I was hoping for more relation to the Heavy Metal movie, but was still fairly impressed by this one!

Gave Elemental Gimmick Gear a shot. Pretty weird game. I mean, it feels like it should feel like a Zelda or something, but something just isn't right. The character is so big, and his punch is so tiny that he makes Link feel swift and combative by comparison. I was still having enough fun with it, but ended up getting stuck fairly early in the game. With my lady as co-pilot, we thoroughly explored the world given to us at the time, tried everything we could both think of, and ended up just throwing in the towel. I'll revisit it though, the game has potential, and it seems to ride the line between having the unique DC feel, and being a fairly normal game.

Put on some Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and had some brawls with my buddy. We started on Jojo's Venture, not knowing the difference. Both games feel very similar, like Bizarre is more of an add-on pack than a new game. (Of course, this is just going off of first impression). The game looks great, feels fantastic to play, and has a nice lineup of characters. It almost has too few, but I think they hit just the right number. Now, my friend and I are not pros at fighters, but we understand the basics... and, from a new player standpoint, the game feels a little unbalanced. Or, at least, some characters are vastly easier to use than others. My friend was pretty much done after facing the terror that is Petshop.

Lastly, I started up Shenmue. If I had to show someone one game on the DC, this would be it. It looks insanely good. Whats even more impressive is that, while looking hot as tots, the game still flows perfectly. The world is consistent and very immersive. All that said... the game does start off a little slow for my taste. I am looking forward to playing more though, as I have no idea what is in store for me.

And, of course, tons of Last Hope PB, Zero Gunner 2, Twinkle Star Sprites, Puzzle Fighter, etc.

This is a fighting game that most DC fans need to experience. I had the pleasure of playing the arcade cab before I got it on the DC. The stand system sets it apart from other games. The ads for it promised exclusive modes but I didn't see them anywhere, and it's sad that both games are near the same except for the characters.
