I've caught bits and pieces of it, but from what I've seen, it seems pretty awful. It's like they tried to do what Fables did so well, but added unnecessary teen angst and drama to appease younger audiences.

Yeah instead of watching ONCE, you should play The Wolf Among Us or get some FABLES compendiums.

I actually own the first Fables compendium and another book that centers around Bigby. Definitely need to play the Wolf Among Us, but I was thinking about waiting till all the episodes were released and playing it through in one shot.

Haha cable fail

Well it was a fun summer blockbuster, doesn't do anything particularly new, the 3D is good (and I don't like 3D).. BUT! I wish Hollywood would stop it with the mushy endings! Oh and when are they going to make another scifi movie with proper violence and offal? Starship Troopers came out in 1997!

You realize this is a show that draws from Disney right? Cheesy, hamfisted melodrama is to be expected or they're not doing their jobs right

Congratulations! You've just described every single television show that has ever existed

Sheesh, the snobbery in this thread.

And Once Upon a Time is a family show. Hence, it can't be like Fables, which has some truly brutal, graphic and violent moments, as well as nudity, sex and adult situations. Don't compare it to something that is strictly for adults. I hate when people hate a show because they want it to be something it is not supposed to be. Enjoy it for what it is, a Disney inspired family show that has to employ certain Disney tropes in order to keep its audience happy.

A fair point, but I think it's also fair to compare two series that are basically the same at their core, regardless of their respective intended audiences. Both borrow numerous characters from classic fairy tale settings and juxtapose them in the modern world. Seems like a natural comparison to me.

Fine, compare it to the movie ENCHANTED which is squarely aimed at a family audience and has much better writing and acting than ONCE.

Check out Starship Troopers Invasion. It's CGI but they did a really good job with it. Watched it on Netflix a while back.

How is cheesy, hamfisted melodrama acceptable? We can sit here and argue over whether the show is good or not, but for me, the whacky antics of a misunderstood good/bad guy rumplestiltzkin desperately searching for his kidnapped son and an evil Peter Pan just seems silly. I am absolutely positive that emotional baggage is in every single TV show in existence and many that do have it, do so in a more rational manner than this. Can you please explain to me the snobbery in this thread? At what point has anyone said, "You like Once Upon a Time? How pathetic!" If people enjoy it, that's fine. For me, the show does not provide what I look for in a TV show, hence I don't watch it.

Godzilla's Revenge

Checked it out on Netflix. Not the worst movie I have ever seen but pretty odd Godzilla wise. Guess that is one easy way to pump in a bunch of monster fights without having to explain whats going on.
