Oh of course! The Director, Jason Scott is a really nice person who helped get me into the Interactive Fiction community and helped start my desire to write my own stuff. It is an uphill battle, since I have very little programming skills, but I have been able to accomplish a lot since then.
I very much recommend his other documentary BBS about the old Bulletin Board Systems in the days of old.
Also, Dave, I have not read "Racing the Beam," but I will add that to my list for sure!

Feel free to pm me tips on writing text books that isn't "do your research and pile on as much bullshity (keeping the typo) as possible" has been what most professors have told me.
I hope to hell I never write a textbook. Fucking gross.
I'm half thinking about getting it next month since it actually has a headphone jack and a second hdmi slot(even though I might still need to find a hd switch ha ha).

It's so weird how certain games just seem to click better than others. My buddy's owned a 2-slot Neo Geo since before he moved back here. He has Aero Fighters 2 and Samurai Shodown in it.
Now I think SamSho's a great game, but I'm honestly terrible at it. I was never all that great at 2d fighters to be honest. I would power his cabinet on maybe once every 2-3 months (and I'm at his place 2-3 times a week), usually when someone who doesn't normally hang out there was there and wanted the wow factor.
But a couple weeks ago, I got KoF 02 for the MVS (both to play at his house and at mine with the AES adapter)... and basically everyone (at least, all the guys) who come to his house have been playing it like at least an hour a day every time we're at his house. Just for some reason, King of Fighters has clicked WAY more with all of us. It's kinda funny like that.

How do I do that? I tried to let the game play itself but pop-up messages and catastrophes happen that I have to fix myself

I have always been of the firm belief that fighting games have a lot more in common with rhythm games than any other. Each game has a unique pacing and rhythm that feels unique and really gels well with a particular person. For me, the pacing of Samsho is perfect for me. I enjoy the slower, more methodical gameplay. It, much like the Virtua Fighter series, has a very, "Action/Reaction," style that really appeals to me. When a fighting game clicks, it really is a beautiful thing! Keep up the good fight!

Hrmm realized I might be on the hunt for a new crt soon...love this sanyo but I really would love to have one that possibly uses a 16:9 setup so games from ps3 don't have things getting cut off(ps4 can be hdmi only because I have a decent way to plug headphones in even if that screen feels a lot smaller, even if not truly by much....)

Keep in mind that a Wii U will be in a similar situation, and devices in general are increasingly HDMI-only.
If you have the room for one, you might consider an A/V receiver with HDMI. It'd let you switch between several HDMI sources, and would process audio. Depending on the model, it may also be able to convert other input types to HDMI.
