Random Gaming Thoughts
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
OMG I am crushing hard on the book I'm reading today. I just read the history of the emergence of the critical conception of "gameplay" as it occurred in 1980s British magazines and I'm beside myself with wonder and excitement. Soooo good.

I read a very interesting and engaging book on the history of Interactive Fiction and Text Based games called, "Twisty Little Passages," by Nick Montfort. Being a huge fan of the genre, I found the analytical breakdown of game design of said genre to be really interesting!

Have you read his book with Bogost ("Racing the Beam")? You'll never look at the VCS the same again...BogusMeatFactory wrote:I read a very interesting and engaging book on the history of Interactive Fiction and Text Based games called, "Twisty Little Passages," by Nick Montfort. Feel free to pm me tips on writing text books that isn't "do your research and pile on as much bullshity (keeping the typo) as possible" has been what most professors have told me.
