They can do most/all of what they've been doing there without making the console.

Wiimotes or the Gamepad could be accessories, like light guns, steering wheels, plastic instruments, DDR pads, or whatever else before them.

Setting aside that Miiverse was probably implemented, at least in part, to replicate functionality that the 360 and PS3 already had...it doesn't require control of the platform to do. Not that I particularly want to see them (or care at all about Miiverse myself, for that matter), but uPlay and the occasional Facebook integration demonstrate that it could be done.

I'm not trying to turn things into a "Nintendo should get out of hardware" argument though. My point was that I think they're continuing to make consoles because they want to be collecting licensing fees, not paying them. The more, and more successful third party games, the better.
If they had a great third party lineup, they'd be highlighting it. They don't, so they're pushing first-party. It's PR spin.
Oh I understand and I never really thought you were really making the, "Nintendo should get out of hardware," argument, and you are totally right that Nintendo really does not want to pay licensing fees. This is why they used their own format for Gamecube and the DSes. About the Miiverse, EVERYONE SHOULD CARE! Cause it's cool...and stuff.........yeah....

I loved reading this:

Could the Wii U actually be stronger than the PS4/XB1?

http://playeressence.com/could-the-wii- ... 4xbox-one/

TL;DR
Basically the article is saying the Wii U is more efficient than the PS4/XB1

It's so far-fetched, but i like the idea of it anyways.

This has been argued to death and back, but if you want pure graphical experience, build a PC.

You can get as much enjoyment out of the Wii U as the XB1 and PS4, with cross platform games.

No, that guy is an idiot. He's also staking much of his claim on a game that isn't out yet (Bayonetta 2). It also ignores stuff like this: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digit ... u-face-off which shows that, even for last gen games, the Wii U is not always a sure bet.

He also ignores stuff like Infamous Second Son, Ryse, and other graphically-impressive games on PS4/XB1. He does make a good case that any game, in competent hands, can look great and run well on any hardware. That isn't unique to the Wii U or to Nintendo.

I still maintain that Ryse is the best looking game this gen so far. That game is magnificent looking.

I haven't played Ryse, but Killzone Shadow Fall looks incredible.

Surely that just comes down to the developers and how much effort they put in? Assassin's Creed 4 seemed to fare much better in this comparison

That was kind of my point: games will run better or look better depending on the efforts and expertise of the developers with the hardware they port the game to. That's as true for the 2600 as it is for the PS4.

The Wii U is, at the level of hardware, less capable than the PS4 and XB1 of producing more complex graphical effects. He seems to argue that, because Nintendo and some companies are using the Wii U efficiently and some developers aren't yet doing that with the PS4/XB1, that the Wii U is better hardware that will produce better looking games. It's nonsense.

While I've disagreed with many of Dsh's opinions in this thread, what he says now is 100% fact.
