One of these days I'll get around to playing DX(when I can make sure to get a working copy unlike last time  ). And quite honestly of the past years since gba Minish cap is still my favorite portable zelda(never got a chance to play the gbc ones). It's quirky, and ezlo made me laugh from time to time. I think it was also the first zelda game where I didn't feel the need to find a walkthrough(I'm still horrible at every other zelda on the market from time to time because I get lost and I forget to explore a lot more than I do...

Just seems like a lot of trial and error to me, nothing I'm not already used to. That being said, starting at three hearts after dying once is pretty brutal for this game.
Stuff like extra lives possibly making you LOSE lives is bad enough, but there are several occasions later in the game where you have to jump along stepping stones and then jump over the screen edge to the next screen - only there are two or three paths to choose, and only one of them is right - the other 2 lead to nothing, causing you to fall in the water and die instantly. Literally a 50% gamble the first time you play it of instantly losing a life. Screw that.

That's brutal even for the original zelda too(at least it is for me even though I've got extra heart containers it still doesn't make sense to start at 3 when you die)

I really hated that ugly ass Westernized artwork they used in StarTropics.

Ehh that doesn't bug me much for some odd reason whenever I see images for the game plus those looked quite a deal more advanced than some other NES rpg's at the time from what I recall from various searches...

Here is a great article on Link's Awakening:

I hope you enjoy it.

Also, the Oracle games are better than Minish Cap, which is, IMO, one of the weakest games in the series. It is still very good, however; so, I am confident that you will have a good time regardless of which game you choose to play next.

I hope you never, ever play R-Type Delta. It is nothing but cheap, unpredictable, instant deaths (and I love it!).

Agreed... Minish is fine, but also a bit of a one trick pony.

I don't know about it being the weakest in the series....I was able to get into it 10x better than the ds games(which to me are the weakest). I don't know what it was about the ds games vs minish cap just something struck me as a little better. Guess I'm not a big fan of the line of zelda that turns into the flooded world ha ha

IMO, Minish cap is just behind Spirit Tracks. I have enjoyed all of the games - and I really enjoyed Phantom Hourglass - and I don't think you can really go wrong with any of them.

If you want a truly great portable Zelda experience, however, you must play Okamiden. It is awesome (and I would be delighted to see an HD remake).

Okamiden has definitely been on my want lists though, but even more so has okami. I just haven't gotten around to trying to find a copy of either yet...
