I guess since it's all digital distro, they still make a profit, but wow. A lot of good buys to be had here.

I wouldn't consider DOSbox to be "sloppy" emulation. I dont want to play DOOM in HD, i want to play it like i played it originally. And i dont play Quake 3 online.

Those are the only two issues i would ever have and i dont think that means that "half of it doesn't work"

Each to thier own.

Mozgus, some interesting points you make there. Some of that stuff sounds truly troublesome. I wonder if it was something about your configuration or something that's been reported more widely. There were some inconsistencies in your blog, however...

"but the thing is, DosBox doesn't provide an authentic experience, especially in terms of sound. I just think it would have been fantastic if they could have tried to modernize these games a little bit, like giving us jumping and mouse aiming"

You go from complaining that DosBox doesn't provide an "authentic experience" without elaborating beyond vague hints at problems with sound into asking for enhancements in the very next sentence. That doesn't make much sense. Either you want authenticity or enhancement. You can't have both at the same time You must choose between them. Besides, it might be appropriate to elaborate on what isn't right about the sound. As it stands you just throw a potential problem out there without really providing any information on how it's a problem. I would like to know more.

Those two sentences should be in 2 separate paragraphs, is all. They aren't meant to be connected.

My points were the emulations isnt that great, and I think that since they went the emulation route, they might as well went with a method that enhances the game in fundamental ways as an option. They did exactly this with Quake on Steam, as it includes GL Quake, if I remember. Of course that didn't fucking work either.

And when I said half of it doesnt work, I meant exactly that. Half the games either don't start, start to a black screen, have controls you cant even map (its unplayable), and so on. It's a fucking awful collection that they didn't bother to playtest at all. Do not buy unless you only want legal copies of the WADs so you can use them in much better source ports.

If you want that, just purchase the boxed collections. (i.e. Doom Collector's Edition and Ultimate Quake)

With the recent STALKER deals you guys should have at least jumped on one of them. Super great games.

STALKER is undoubtedly the most horrible game I've played all year. I've given it about a dozen solid chances and it absolutely refuses to dispense any fun at all. It was designed from the ground up to irritate and enrage the player, and nothing else.
