Take solace in the fact that those gougers are rarely successful.

I remember when people were trying to resell the Neo Geo X for $500. No one bought into that, and it was available everywhere for $200 within a few weeks after launch. Same deal goes for those who were trying to flip the PS4Bones for $1000.

I just looked at the Hyperkin Facebook page for the first time in about a week and holy shit. My 1 year old's temper tantrums are more mature and coherent than the things being written here.

Still trying to figure out what the BBB nonsense is all about. People are angry about not getting their product before the release date? Wut.

yeah, I saw a few sellers on Amazon posting this thing for ridiculous prices. The sad thing is there were people out there who thought it was Hyperkin who were actually charging that price for the unit just because it was on Amazon. I guess some people don't get the concept that people can sell stuff on Amazon too, just like on eBay.

I was going to say, is the Retron 5 the first clone console to actually get to price gouged? I completely forgot about the Neo Geo X though.

You see that kind of thing spill over into craigslist and the secondhand market too. People trying to sell Super Mario World carts for $500 and whatnot because "well that's how much it costs on Amazon!"

I'd say yes, Retron 5 would be the first. Neo Geo X isn't really a "clone" in my view as it doesn't play any MVS/AES/CD/NGPC games. It's essentially an emulation machine with a cart slot for SNK compilations. A shame no new games were produced for it.

FWIW I saw 3 units at a game store this afternoon. I didn't ask the price.

Eh, I see a small handful there and some of them are "only" $50-$100 more than the retail price.

Still kinda pathetic though. I guess some folks just don't have patience.

Then again, I would never stand in line at midnight for a launch game when I know that I can simply waltz into a store 3 months later and get it for a third of the price. But some people eat that shiz right up.

And to think, all this could be taken care of with just a few straight answers out of Hyperkin. I am so dreading the Facebook feed this week, especially after the 6th

No responses from anyone with a Newegg preorder either. However, they apparently didn't run into the same ordering issue Amazon did. I hope to get some sort of e-mail this week!
