Yeah I wonder.

Official wireless ones would be off the chain.

Surely if they did that, they just wouldn't bother releasing an adapter? They could have just released an official Wii U 'Gamecube controller' that was wireless and connected directly to the Wii U.

Actually, why haven't Nintendo just done that?

Any thoughts on this?

So I keep testing out ways that avoids the freezing issue I had mentioned a couple of pages back. This was an issue back when the console was released. I vaguely remember a friend having a similar issue with a DLC title. He sent it to Nintendo and got it fixed.

After 4 months of it being disconnected and finally have the time and space to play it I have to deal with this nonsense.

*sigh*

With releasing the Gamecube adapter, do you think that maybe they will be including Gamecube games into the virtual console? Why would they work on an adapter for just smash bros.? Curious!

Probably to cater to the competitive scene. Fighting game tournaments usually only allow wired controllers, and in turn, Smash players would have been using Gamecube controllers for the past two games.

The possibility of Gamecube Virtual Console games would be nice too, but there'd definitely be a niche market for the adapter either way.

I think the pro controller would be a nice alternative. To be honest, I would probably stick with the pro controller over the gamecube for this iteration. This may also be in response to the insanity of requiring you to have the classic controller to play your snes and up virtual console games that you had on your old wii virtual console. (grabbed 1080 snowboarding on club nintendo and can't use it because I don't have the classic controller)

Thinking about it now, since they did this it'll probably work for the wii menu with games that utilized it and possibly some games might now be designed to allow it to be used....I wouldn't be surprised if that happened now(especially if someone at e3 announced it)
