NEO GEO MVS CAB info needed please.

Post by loganm187 »

Looking to buy a MVS NEO GEO cab and get a 161-1 cart with it. I need info so I make sure I buy the right cab etc. I have found this Bust a Move one slot MVS locally in great shape for under 300 bucks and what do I need to make sure it has to work with the 161-1 cart?

I researched online and it says it needs the original bios. How do I check for that before I purchase?

Where can I get the 161 in 1 MVS cart? I see it's sold out here: http://www.jammaboards.com/store/161-in ... 61in1.html

Any info would be AWESOME! I am looking to buy this cab in the next 48 hours, but want to make sure I'm not going to get the wrong thing etc. Pics are posted. Thanks!

I am guessing you mean Puzzle Bobble. If it is a functioning 1 slot for $300, go for it and find the multicart online later. Puzzle Bobble can be sold for $20-30ish, unless my pricing is off.

$300 for a functioning MVS is a solid deal.

It's actually Bust a Move. I had a brain fart. What's that worth?

Again, my MVS pricing is about a year old, but $30-40.

Just in case you were unaware, that's a conversion cab. (generic JAMMA woody with a 1-slot thrown in it. not a real neo geo cabinet)
for examples of legit US Neo cabs check out this link: http://hardmvs.com/xml/usa/usCabs.htm

And multi-carts are for the birds :P

That looks like a Dynamo Z Back cab, I want, I want. :D :D
I would buy it, normally you see Street Fighter 2 games in there and it has a great pull out shelve.
It will work fine with the 161 and all other JAMMA boards too.

Like stated already, that is not a legit neo geo cab. I would try see if you could get him down to 250 or lower, but 300 is not a terrible deal. As for the multi cart, I bought mine from that same site you posted, and they are legit, and ship pretty fast. Another good thing is it shipps from the US instead of China like other sellers.

Bios doesnt matter with 161 cart. The aftermarket bios has a different boot screen than original NG bios. Aftermarkets first screen will show with serial # of rom chip it also allows you to soft pause and manually reboot the cab without having to flip the switch which is handy. The aftermarket bios just allows you to run the carts in different region modes even though NG isnt region locked all the info from all different regions such as Japanese text etc is on all carts. Also it allows you to put the cab into AES mode which will let you play the home console versions of the MVS carts as if they were AES carts as both versions are on all the carts.

Thanks for the info guys. I guess I will wait until I find a real MVS cab. Any info on when that 161 in1 cart will be back in stock?

jammaboards imports those from the China manufacturers. They've stopped carrying them due to paypal and bootleg protection issues.

You can still get them direct from the MANY manufacturers on aliexpress or alibaba. $100 shipped is the most you should pay - they can be had for about $85/each if bought in bulk (5 or more).

An acquaintance recently opened one and commented how horrible the solder job is on these - buyer beware. These are cheap bootlegs and the quality is generally similar across the spectrum.
