I never watch "making-ofs" for movies or games either because I find it detracts from the world that particular media is trying to create. I compare it to being told that Santa isn't real.

I like the extra footage such as "The Making Of"; adds more insight as to why a particular scene is done. Even in a game sometimes you find out why a sequence is played out, even finding out stuff that were removed.
