I think the best way to phrase that would be "I can BE better than anyone, if I work hard enough".

I've never seen anyone in life succeed by thinking "ok, currently I'm not that good, but with enough hardwork, maaaaybe I can be better than some people"

I don't want to burst your bubble kid, but most people, even nice people, prefer hanging out with "kind of douchebags" over "moping losers" (talking from personal experience, unfortunately). As long as you don't overdo it of course.

Don't knock it 'til you try it. I think you will find it makes you more successful at just about everything and - as long as you don't over do it - not a douchebag.

Luke is a perfect example of this kind of attitude.

If it wasn't for the fact it was over the internet, I probably wouldn't be able to stand Luke. Everybody I know who thinks very much of themselves I can't stand. Most of them are horrible people, and treat others pretty badly. For example, the majority of people I know who other people tend to like.
