It's a fun movie who knows what it is and doesn't stray from that. I like movies like that and forgive the flaws because it's all for entertainment anyway.

When I do blast movies, it's because they aren't what they are trying to be. Prometheus tried to be smart, and it was stupid. Transformers tried to be transformers but it was like watching Problem Child 2 (with a horny director).

MALLRATS isn't a good "movie". It isn't. But it isn't trying to be a good movie. It's a trip to the Mall with your best pal, and it succeeds at that.

...well it also adds boobs, which doesn't hurt.

And real boobs.

I love Mall Rats, because its true. Being a slacker jackass is something a lot of people can connect with, I think that's why it just works for so many people.

On Friday, my wife and I watched:

Ginger Snaps (2000). It is very fun, and it is probably my second-favorite film in the "feminist horror comedy" genre.

Watched The LEGO movie over the weekend and it was excellent. They did a fantastic job with the visuals and the story was actually really entertaining. The ending was a bit unexpected but really well done. ;D

I am not gonna lie...I was a bit teary-eyed at the end of that movie.

The last movie I watched was....

I have always enjoyed Wes Anderson films, but more so later on in his career. After Life Aquatic, his films took a less jaded look at the world and had a much more playful air that I have thoroughly enjoyed and this one is no exception! The story is about the head concierge at the Grand Budapest Hotel and how, through his remarkable way with older women, inherited a priceless piece of art, drawing the ire of the woman's children who may or may not have murdered her.

With that said, the strange, pop-up storybook style of Anderson shines with the weird mixture of amateur and professional acting that would seem so out of place in any other film. For fans of his films, I recommend it highly. For those that aren't too keen on his earlier films like Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore or Life Aquatic, I really should suggest giving him another chance as the style has morphed into something all its own and engaging.

Let me know how it is. I am not that interested in it, since it looks like Source Code but with more guns and robots.

The book was pretty good, 'cept the ending.
