As far as "emulation" on the Retron 5 is concerned, only the audio and video information is dumped to the console, you will still need the actual cartridge to play the game.
From what I'm seeing, this supposed firmware update will address many if not all of the early problems some reviewers are coming across (SNES issues mainly)
Still nothing here and I pre-ordered on the day they became available on Amazon (Sept. 12). It will definitely be a pleasant surprise if I get it around June 6th as it will be a nice little Father's Day present to myself.
I also picked up a bunch of Super Fami carts recently. I'd like to play them without having to drag out my SNES and plugging that in and causing an even bigger clusterfuck of wires (thanks to me playing around with the XRGB Mini).

I ordered mine pretty late, but I'll post here as soon as I get the email.
We have good news! One of your pre-ordered items is now eligible for release date delivery and has been upgraded at no additional charge. Your new delivery estimate is:
"Hyperkin RetroN 5 Retro Video Gaming System - Gray"
Estimated arrival date: June 06, 2014
It sounds like Hyperkin might be releasing something related to the N64 come E3, as one of the people with the company mentioned it in the interview. It puts so many questions in my head. Is it a separate console, an add on for the Retron5, or a Retron6... hmm.
I don't have a link to the interview, but it was supposedly exclusive.

Some stores have been getting them already. At least they're not selling them on eBay. Real good form for Hyperkin to give them to the stores pre-release and then they turn around and sell them for 2 to 3 times as much.

I wouldn't expect those who pre-ordered later to be getting notifications. Come to think of it, Hyperkin is doing the silent treatment thing again over the past few days, with no new news to speak of. My Newegg pre-order was in early November, so who knows when I'm getting it?

I'm kinda thinking I should hit one of my local stores and try and grab one while I can, but I also feel like I should wait and see what this N64 related announcement Hyperkin has is.
I have a S-Video modded M1 Genesis and SNES (s-vid cable) is connected to my 50" plasma. I would like to have my NES hooked up to my plasma, but don't know if the visual upgrade is worth $140.
