Try nine years. Sucks that I'm not bringing any income right now, but at least I don't dread waking up every weekday.

 Still unemployed. Memorial Day weekend came and went and I heard not a THING from any of my potential employers. I'm gonna end up leaving here ("here" being my uncle's fiance's house) and staying with my paternal grandmother. Last time (which was shortly after the fire that broke out under our now-old house forced us out until we got things squared away) I slept on an air mattress in the living room. So if last time's any indication, I won't have my own room (much less my own room with a TV), no Internet access and the way things are going no money for groceries. And since my mom's not going to be able to help me out as much, if at all, I'm currently at a loss. I'm tempted to pawn some stuff to help have money to live off of but that money wouldn't last very long (I probably get just enough money to live off of for a week at best). Plus all the stuff I'd look to get rid of is stuff I plan on selling to get the cash for my move to NYC. But each day gets harder than the last.

 My sleep cycle's out of whack again. Last two nights I stayed up all night. Today I managed to last up until noon (the day before only until 7am) and woke back up around 7:30pm. I was originally just gonna try to sleep for a few hours.

:D Made cupcakes today with my oldest niece. She "helped". The batter was really thick and dense (don't know if that was normal) and I didn't have an electric mixer so I had to use a wire whisk (probably should have used a fork). At some point had to scoop out some of the excess batter out of a few of the cups and into others with less batter. SOOOOOOO tedious.

:) Yesterday checked to find a recipe for the Royal Tarts from "Adventure Time" and ended up in a website that specializes in fiction-inspired recipes and somehow ended up looking up recipes for Japanese desserts and even a few entrees (even a few delicious-looking beef-based ones despite my predominately poultritarian diet).

 Though after finding out about a restaurant in NYC that serves octopus balls (I believe I'm referring to takoyaki at Otakufu, which I found out about in a Village Voice article about cheap eats), I'm suddenly craving them!

:D Rackspace reached out to ME today with a job offer. Got an email out of the blue from one of their top recruiting agents. It seems they are very interested in me, and want to make sure that I pick them when the time is right.

:( I wish I had never moved back to Louisiana. I'll have to turn them down again. We just aren't in the position to make a big move like that, and Kit is well on her way to getting a GM position at her store. It hurts to turn this offer down...

No chance you could work remotely or that she could transfer?

Remote work is only for L2 Admins, but they only hire in L1s. I would have to work there for at least a year before I could consider remote work.

Her current store desperately needs managers, and she's already been promoted to one in less than two months. It seems her current store manager wants her to take his place if he ever leaves (which maybe sooner than later). Her district manager has also expressed interest in moving her to Texas if she can work her way up.

We'll just have to wait and see. If she can get the Store Manager position, we may be moving back to Texas. I just don't want to ruin her chances of moving up for another wild goose chase. I already made that mistake once with her getting on with the Police Dept.

There is nothing really stopping you. It is such a great company to work for. And a job there will start your career and put you on the right path. Companies like Rackspace are rare and unique, Kits work experience can be transferred to wherever you move to. If you regret moving to LA now, dont regret it again by staying.

Sometimes making that tough jump will be difficult at first, but pays off many times over in the end. You dont want it to be that moment when 10 years from now you think 'I wonder what taking that job wouldve been like...'

How far of a drive back and forth? Maybe you can get a cheapo place in TX, stay there Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs night if need be and then spend the rest of the time at home back in LA. Commuting may be a pain, but it may be a sacrifice worth making based on what John is suggesting.

It would be atleast a 5-6 hour trip. Then they also have the little one to consider.
