Original xbox, she just wont open. I can hear her wanting to, but she won't. I didn't try anything crazy like prying it open with a screwdriver, but I did try poking the tiny hole with a paperclip which produced no results.
Any ideas on how to solve this issue?

Re: XBOX Disc tray/drive won't open
If it's anything like mine, a tap in the right spot on the top while it's trying to open will do it. Then from that point forward, you won't run into the problem if there's a disc in the drive (or if you fix it, but who has time for that).
Re: XBOX Disc tray/drive won't open
Here's a video of what someone else did, moving tray side to side while ejecting. He then took the drive apart, cleaned the parts and lubricated the pieces. Good idea to replace the drive belt too.
Xbox Sticking Disc Drive
You probably have a Samsung drive, known to have stuck drive trays. They have much better laser tracking compared to the Thomson drives though. I have a preference for the Phillips drives due to the best reliability and disc read capability.

Re: XBOX Disc tray/drive won't open
Friend of mine used to have this happen on his oXBOX; a good whack on top usually fixed it, at least temporarily. Whether you wanna try that is up to you...
I also want to say that I absolutely adore the fact that whenever someone posts about having an issue, CRTGAMER pops in with a helpful answer and at least one or two links to troves of knowledge. You rule, dood!

Ive always had luck just hitting eject and pushing in the paperclip at the same time.

I'll try that.fastbilly1 wrote:Ive always had luck just hitting eject and pushing in the paperclip at the same time.
Not saying it won't work but "tapping the top" might lead to broken hardware. I eats me spinach.

Re: XBOX Disc tray/drive won't open
The belt is probably dirty.
If you don't want to indiscriminately hit the thing, you can try, with a light touch, flicking the tray up and down to try to get traction.
Sometimes it works.
To avoid it in the future, if you get it open, clean the belt, and leave a disc in the system.

I always take games out of my systems before putting them away. Seems like leaving a game in won't be a bad thing.

My 360 and oXbox used to have the door stick. So I just kept a CD-R in the tray while I was waiting to have time to fix them. Best not to risk damage to a real disk.Luke wrote:I always take games out of my systems before putting them away. Seems like leaving a game in won't be a bad thing.
As for tapping to get it open initially. It doesn't have to be hard. Just light taps across the top while the drive door is trying to come open. It may take you a couple tries to get it open.
