There is an option to cancel or pause downloads just hit the Download button at the top right of the Uplay window next to minimize. Pops up a download progress window.Cronozilla wrote:UPlay no option to cancel downloads ... awesome.
Glad I grabbed a physical version, just gonna pop the discs in.
The amount of difference between the PC version and what they showed in 2012 is kind of astonishing. I can accept the fact that we're being shown proof of concept demos at an E3 unveiling, but it appears they aren't putting that same level of work into complete products.
It seems like they probably spent months getting that E3 demo ready, and never spent anything near that amount of time on any one section of the final game. And after stuff like Colonial Marines (which did the exact same thing), maybe they should stop doing that?
This isn't 2003, they're starting to promise stuff they can't deliver.

The progress bar's only option was to press OK to put the download in the background. I just closed UPlay, relaunched it, "Uninstalled" the game and now I'm installing off the discs.
Re: Watch Dogs delayed till 2014
The video earlier in this thread with the E3 vs PC comparison ... it kinda seems like some of that might have been changed for clarity and not just because of performance issues. Like ... they playtested and people were getting confused because some elements of the UI and presentation weren't clear. I could be wrong. Either way, I agree that it's confusing when something so polished looks so different from the final product, whatever the reason for it may be. Dark Souls II is a good example as well of things looking very different from early footage to release. Not really sure what they should do about this, because they want people to get a good sense of the game and get excited about it's release, should they make it look worse for the demo so the final product looks better?
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

Yeah the download button on the game page doesn't pull up the progress bar or give options which is kind of stupidCronozilla wrote:The progress bar's only option was to press OK to put the download in the background. Edit: @ stark
would be nice if they added something like what Bethesda did with the Skyrim High Resolution Texture Pack so we could up the detail a bit. Things that I think could really use work is the physics, damage system, particle effects, and driving though which isn't likely to happen

So it is downloaded - but I apparently need to be running a 64-bit Windows OS (not a 32-bit one). I searched and discovered the pirated version is patched for 32-bit, but Ubi has offered no such public file. Unless I can find a standalone patch/crack to play it in 32-bit, I guess I am out.

I don't know if I want to download 13GB again, and I have read some stuff about the pirated version being littered with bitcoin mining software. If there was just an exe or an easy crack, that would be betterdunpeal2064 wrote:Could you just snag the pirated version?

The beauty about upgrading your PC is that it will work for all future games and general use. Cant you get a tax write-off or another grant or something?dsheinem wrote:not upgrading for this game, sorryJmustang1968 wrote:Time to get a new PCdsheinem wrote:So it is downloaded - but I apparently need to be running a 64-bit Windows OS (not a 32-bit one). You need to be up to snuff on the best gaming platform out there if you want to be a true extreme hardcore gamer. No more wasting money on silly toys like a Wii U.
