Just finished watching Log Horizon. I really like the pacing of this series, as it gives you plenty of time to get to know all the characters (and there are a lot). My only beef were the last few episodes. They were handled very well and were stretched out evenly until the last one. I felt like there should have been more to the second half of the episode. It felt a bit rushed and was begging for more story elements.

I totally dig 25 episode anime, but this one needs much more time to tell it's story and I'm totally okay with that. Looking forward to what season 2 has to offer.

This is how I feel about Gurren Lagann. Everything just happens so fast. It was a solid show in the end that was carried by it's extreme action but I think maybe it's a bit too ridiculous for my tastes lol. Whatever show I watch next will probably be a bit more grounded in reality.

Can I get some recommendations for stuff that has like a mystery/thriller feel to it? Films or Series I don't care either way.

Monster. Death Note if you haven't see it. Perhaps Eden of the East or Durarara!!

If more episodic, maybe Mushi-Shi or Ergo Proxy.

Guess it just depends on what you're looking for in it. Atmosphere, pacing, having a series-long question to solve, etc.

Well all of those things really. Maybe like a good police investigation/detective show?

Monster and Eden of the East were on my radar for sure.

I'm currently watching Monster, and I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a solid detective/crime thriller. It will scratch all those itches and then some. Ergo Proxy is also a good choice, though I've never finished it, so I can't speak for the entire series. What I did watch was intriguing, but very dense and sometimes a little confusing.

I agree about Mushi-Shi and Death Note. Those are two of the best examples I can think of for a dectective/thriller anime and L is one of the best characters ever, seriously.

You can also check out Psycho Pass, Darker than Black, When they Cry, Mirai Nikki.

If you want a detective anime series, try Detective Conan (now up to 600+ episodes) or The File of Young Kindaichi. Each has its own charm. The early episodes of Detective Conan was dubbed by Funimation (who totally screwed up in marketing since it is a really good show) while later ones are fansub easy. While there is a TON of filler episodes, any site should be able tell you which episodes you SHOULD watch for the story. The File of Young Kindaichi is on Crunchyroll right now with "The File of Young Kindaichi Returns" since the original anime ended. I'm really liking Returns since you don't need to know anything about the original episodes to get caught up in them (since Returns is all I've seen). Of course, it isn't a thriller anime but I thought I'd at least chime in on those.
