What was the last movie you've seen?

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Rented it at red box the other night along with Pompeii. Wasn't expecting much out of the film but was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Was expecting them to go heavy with dream sequences the way the trailer was, but they actually kept it under control and they only took up around 10% of the film. Probably one of my favorite Ben Stiller movies had a very good combination of action and humor.

Pompeii

Failed to rise above my low expectations. Story wasn't very appealing and the movie quickly became a mindless action/disaster flick which relied heavily on special effects, but didn't utilize them very well. As a mindless action movie it's okay but definitely not something I would consider buying.

If anything I think the volcano deserved more attention. If your going to shoot a disaster flick with a sub par story keep the focus on the chaos of the event rather then the generic heroes and villains. Ending also felt flat couldn't get invested in the characters so I didn't really care what happened to them :P

DREDD is what the Robocop reboot should have been. But, ya know, with Robocop.

"Claustrophobic Action" movies have been excellent so far.

We've been slowly refining the formula for action movies. I'm hoping in my life time we manage to distill it to the ultimate action movie:

Prisoners (hugh jackman). Thought it was awesome. Kept me guessing, and was really tense towards the beginning. Highly recommend. It's playing on HBO currently.

I thought the same thing. Watching Dredd was like watching a new RoboCop movie without the obvious subtext.

Which is exactly why it works.

You, me, my wife, and yours at Bisto La Bon for small plates and video game and movie talk before the year ends.

The Quiet Earth. (There is some nudity and it starts a little reminiscent of 28 Days Later)

It was an interesting "where have all the people gone but me?" kind of movie. A little scifi, a little what does one do when alone. I thought it was a worthwhile watch. Also I want that Holden Ute.

Where would you place it compared to the other movies?
