I try to make a real reply to something in the thread, and the majority of it is ignored.

What are you talking about? I didn't respond directly to this part:Forlorn Drifter wrote:I try to make a real reply to something in the thread, and the majority of it is ignored.
Because my reply to your first sentence covered it. The idea that "it's all just sex" is a common one that a lot of people have (especially men when they are younger and in their sexual prime). But as one gets older they often discover that there's much more to life than competition for mates, that not every choice is about sex, and that meaningful relationships (sexual or not) can be a much larger indicator of long-term happiness. And everyone is then fed the bullshit that personality matters when trying to have a relationship with someone, with relationship equaling sex in our current times. So, these creepy ass dudes all get it in their heads that they are nice or doing what they are supposed to in order to get sex out of these women, but they can't, and then they get all kinds of fucking weird.

But that the thing- those that I refer to are, like me, the younger ones still in that "sex is everything" mindset, and whatever others may say, I do believe near everything in media is geared toward sex really. If not sex, violence. So it breaks down into sex and violence, which isn't a good mix when someone isn't right in the head and can't get want they want by doing it how they were always told would work.

Yep. 100%. Sex sells, baby, and all advertisers know it.Forlorn Drifter wrote:I probably don't know what I'm talking about, but the way I see it, we live in a sex crazed culture. Literally everything we do have or see essentially rotates around sex, or attempting to get it.
Not bullshit in the least. I'm an average looking guy at best. I'm overweight, though not morbidly obese. I will go long stretches of time being single, but when I date people I date smokin' hotties pretty frequently, and have been told by multiple friends of mine that on the average, my exes are way hotter than anyone else's we know. So I speak from experience, personality does matter. That is not bullshit in the least. Now granted, you do need to have SOMETHING as a hook. Nobody sees someone's personality from across the room and decides they need to go talk to it. But that something can be almost anything. Just being in the same general vicinity as someone because of a mutual friend and saying something funny can do it. I've struck up conversations before just because I've been drunk at a bar and waved at someone. Literally, just held my hand up like the dope fucking drunk I was with this huge grin on my face, waved it back and forth like an idiot, and they smiled and started talking to me. I've walked up to a group of people because a guy I kinda knew was standing talking to them, looked sadly at my glass and been like "I have no more alcohol" and had the hottest girl hand me a beer to which I respond "You're my new best friend". I've randomly picked people's kik names off of 4chan and started telling them a story off the top of my head. Just seriously, ANYTHING you can use as a hook and boom, personality really can win over even the beauty queens. And everyone is then fed the bullshit that personality matters when trying to have a relationship with someone, with relationship equaling sex in our current times.
Well... I can't entirely argue with that. Creepers gonna creep. So, these creepy ass dudes all get it in their heads that they are nice or doing what they are supposed to in order to get sex out of these women, but they can't, and then they get all kinds of fucking weird.

You must have an awesome personality then, because everything I've seen or experienced proves otherwise. As I see it, attraction is 95% physical and the rest is everything else. I think that the fact these creeps have the idea that attempting to have a good personality and being nice will get them anywhere and it doesn't is a perfect example that, for the majority of people, personality is secondary, if even considered.KalessinDB wrote:\.Not bullshit in the least. And I imagine you are much better looking than you think.

Except they don't have good personalities, they are boring, creepy and just weird dude. I can assure you everyone that tries to tout how great of a personality they have doesn't actually have a personality.
So is it considered a cliche to find out your ex is knocked up in under a year of being broken up? Because yea that just happened. I'm pretty blown away since my buddy I met through her told me and when he found out she told him that I knew it wasn't mine and that I knew she was. Hope she gets her shit together. I can't help but feel bad for the dad and the kid knowing that she has major trust and jealousy issues, that I definitely didn't help with, but I mean this guy has no idea what he's getting himself into.
I need to get my mind off of that though.

Was disappointed that there wasn't a wake but that was probably for the best since I don't think my Grandmother could have taken seeing his body.
Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Sorry for your loss Fragems.
A lot of grandparents have been going for me. Gotta remember the good times and celebrate them.

Tough times Fragems, but take solace in the fact your Grandfather no longer suffers.

My grandfather had a wake when he died, and seeing the body is... yeah. It's too much.
I really don't like wakes.
