And how is this any different from how Johnson fucked the rest of us with Vietnam?
Seriously though, nobody in Kennedy's cabinet liked Johnson.

Don't wanna sound alarmist, but holy f***! Could this century's European fascism be French-flavoured?

To be fair she has reformed the party into a French version of the Republicans. Way too far right by European standards but not as bad as our golden dawn which uses violence and threatens people.Pulsar_t wrote: Don't wanna sound alarmist, but holy f***! So not like the Republicans, then.ZeroAX wrote:To be fair she has reformed the party into a French version of the Republicans. On France24 they kindly reminded the audience that almost two thirds of voters didn't turn up. So what? LOL. I have a theory, that the older Europe gets, the more extremist it leans. Will the EU still be here in 15-20 years time? No use making predictions.

Don't know about France but the case in Greece is that most of the neo-nazi supporters are young people (their greatest strength being the age bracket 18-24), and a bad group of young people to boot, judging by all the ones I've met.Pulsar_t wrote:On France24 they kindly reminded the audience that almost two thirds of voters didn't turn up. I think Europe's (and democracy's in general) worst enemy is indifference by the populace. It allows politics to become (more) corrupt and unable to solve problems, and when things go REALLY bad then the extremes start rising.

I think what we are seeing across Europe is essentially a vote of no confidence in the current political set-up and with shifts towards parties at the far ends of the political spectrum. The rise of proper far-right movements is very worrying and I think displays a continent wide ignorance about what it is the EU does and how immigration can be economically beneficial.
I guess the european parliament is it's own worst enemy though. If it was less of a byzantine cluster-fuck of treaties and regulations, people might actually know what it is they do and how much their vote counts.

This.
It's tragic that in Slovakia we had only 13% voter turnout. And in the Czech Republic it was 18%. And at first I thought the UK's 34% would be the lowest turnout....Sload Soap wrote:I guess the european parliament is it's own worst enemy though.
