Life sure seems to lately be raining turds on you. You're in my prayers buddy.

Jinx, adorable picture. Tell Cara thanks for all her help with the funeral biz.

Smile: Going on what my wife calls a "guy date" later today. Uncle Andy (he's not my uncle, just have nick names for all my pals) and I are going shopping to find myself a pair of jeans that actually fit. Not always easy to find 28x34 jeans, but damned if I won't try, as I need to actually try on the jeans so ordering online isn't an option. Yet.

But yeah, Uncle Andy will make jean shopping fun.

Frown: I've gotten so used to playing by ear that my music dry reading skills stink. Used to kill at first run reads, now...not so much. I need to purchase a progressive piano playbook to get back to the past. The good is that I'm great by ear, but as a musician you need to play by sheet music. And currently it's been a challenge. Good thing I love a challenge.

Well at least someone is showing some appreciation for getting rid of those other 2 horrors.

Smile: Bought jeans, khakis, and a button up shirt for $30.00usd. Well, not thirty flat bu pretty close.

Here's the funny:

I went with my pal Uncle Andy and he never misses an opportunity to humiliate me/crack me up. We stop by Old Navy (ehh. it's okay in quality, great for jeans as far as price goes) and he asks two people in the dressing room to help size me. Then he asked them what jeans to try on.

I tried on at least ten pairs of jeans, and Uncle Andy and two female clerks either gave me the thumbs up or thumbs down. It was like that Seth Green outfit scene in Airborne but funny.

His criticisms had me in stitches, and he had no filter. He also left the clerks laughing with blushed faces.

whew... Maybe the most fun I've ever had shopping.

If you haven't seen the new SIA video, here it is, and it is amazing:

edit* How did I forget to tell this short story?

Wife and I went to our local farmer's market, and at the empanada stand I was served by a smiling girl, had to be around seven or eight years old. This kid had spunk. There was quite a line of people, and she was serving everyone with quick precision. I was impressed with her quickness and energy to help.

I asked her what her favorite flavor was, and she said "Peach!" so that's what I got (and it was delicious). When I got my change I gave her a buck tip and she beamed. She totally deserved a tip. When you see a kid, or anyone, work that hard with a smile they deserve a tip or at least a "thank you".

As my wife and I sat down and chowed down on our empanadas, the lady behind us in line at the stand approached me and said "That was so nice of you to tip that little girl". My response was "She certainly deserved it. Did you follow suit?". She responded with "No, but I will" and she did.

As an adult who busts his ass all week to enjoy the weekend, it's a bit mindblowing to see a kid give up a Saturday morning to help their family out. With a smile to add. I don't know many adults who have that kind of work ethic. Most duders I work with walk in with a scowl, do the minimum amount of work with a "don't bother me" 'tude and can't wait for 4:50pm as they'll leave early.

Starting off an ambitious day - things going well so far.

-Good church service - check.
-Picked up steaks at the meat market - check.
-Put the boys "Cyco Cycle" together - check.
-Made brief appearance at our neighbor's grad party - check (he expects to be picked in this upcoming June NHL draft, really neat kid)
-Making sure dimensions for a regulation horseshoe pit are consistent across the multiple horseshoe sites - check. (i'll mark it out and put the stakes in today as the kids won't be able to actually sit around as I build it - so i'll get it marked today, they'll play, and i'll build it one day after work this week).
-Finish the roof on the chicken coop - Pending.
-Build out the interior frame of the coop - Pending.

I really am not a fan of our church service being at 9am, but it sure makes for full days.
