There's lots of options out there, but I don't wanna pick up something cheaply made that's gonna crap out quickly. Anybody got any suggestions for a specifically well built model?
I've had bad luck with these things. If someone knows of a reliable brand I'd like to hear it as well.

If you do end up getting one online I'd say check out the selection on a site like NewEgg and avoid all the Chinese crap on Amazon.

You could of course use an internal drive if your motherboard supports it.

I mostly use an older computer for floppy games. I have a 2003 Windows XP desktop w/ a floppy drive + DOSBox.

I have drives, cables, and screws. Just pay for stuffing it in a box.

I built this guy at the end of 2010. I started a new job and purchased a couple of parts every paycheck and asked for some during the holiday season. I don't forsee me jumping into next gen gaming or running anything for next gen consoles because i'm not interested in buying anything else. I need to ax my backlog of PC games.

I had gotten an Amazon gift card for my bday earlier this month. I was in need of a new mouse. Found the Cooler Master CM Storm gaming keyboard/mouse combo for $30.

It's sort of a "my first gaming kb/m" set, which explains the price. The keyboard is not mechanical - which is fine w/ me as I don't like the super load click clack. The mouse has gotten mixed reviews as far as durability goes. But the keyboard was generally reviewed favorably. Either way, a good price to check them out considering I had credit to play with. I hooked them up today, and the glowing blue looks awesome and matches the front fan on my tower.

Sano, what do you use all that RAM for? I don't do anything demanding besides games and HD video...I have 8gb with the rog I built a few weeks ago but it seems I've never used more than 3.5GB at once...yes, I am using 64bit

Use a browser with a RAMDisk, you will never be able to go back.

So I texted my friend that helped me put the computer together and he told me to just swap the placement, I swapped the stick to the way the mobo manual says for dual channel, reboot and still says 3.45. So I decided to call him and ask if it has anything to do with the fact that I'm running windows 7 32 bit, yep there's your problem.

So damn I have to upgrade. Maybe I'll go for windows 8.1 just for directx 11.2. I don't even know what games I'm going to be playing that use directx 11.2 though does anyone know where I can find a list?
Don't sweat it about dx11.2, there are no cards that support it yet and I have a feeling it will be ignored like Dx10 was.

Wow that is an old quote! But yea I did end up with a card that supports dx 11.2 so it isn't that big of a deal.

Actually I am looking at upgrades right now and trying to decide if I should jump to the z97 chipset or not. I'm leaning towards not because there really isn't anything that sets it apart from the z87 besides the m2 ssd's. although the I7 4790k sounds pretty awesome wiht it's 4.4 Ghz boost.
