For $76, I don't mind if I get duped in some way.
The IGN preview of the beta unit looks stable and decent enough for me.

Press release --
Hyperkin’s RetroN 5 Will be Released on June 6th, 2014.
South El Monte, CA May 22, 2014
Hyperkin has announced their RetroN 5 game console will release June 6th 2014 for the Americas. This product release reflects Hyperkin’s ongoing commitment to the retro gaming community. The RetroN 5 is a game console that plays games made for the NES, SNES, Super Famicom, Genesis, Mega Drive, Famicom, Game Boy, Game Boy Color and GBA.
The RetroN 5’s output is HDMI, which converts the signal to HDTVs with a maximum output resolution of 720p. The RetroN 5 also includes many audio and visual enhancements to retro games. Users will have the option of using a variety of filters and shader effects. Audio interpolation makes for crisp, clear output. The RetroN 5 also has two NES, SNES and Genesis ports so users can play their retro games with their original controllers.
“The RetroN 5 is our most ambitious project yet,” said Chris Gallizzi, Hyperkin Product Developer. “We’re very happy with the response and anticipation from gamers. It’s my hope that the RetroN 5 will be a significant contribution to the retro community. There is no other console that plays games for so many systems or outputs everything in 720p.”
Hyperkin is a tech company in Southern California which develops gaming peripherals and retro systems. The RetroN series of products is known for playing retro games.
2 weeks plus ship time to your destination. The dawn is upon us.
IGN also updated their original article with more news --
In addition, Hyperkin has released a day-one update for the retro console, which makes games load faster.
So all of you be looking for that once you get yours in.

Wonder what all the people who called it vaporware and cancelled their pre-orders are thinking now.

Like I alluded to earlier, I love the fact that it's emulation. Keeps the costs down, and allows for save states and 100% compatibility.

All right, newest issue -- said best by someone on the CheapAssGamer Retron 5 thread:
June 6 is now the new release date for the RetroN 5. Unfortunately, there is an unconfirmed yet assumed true rumor flying around that says Amazon will NOT be receiving ANY units from the first batch. June 6 units will be available in mom and pop shops, and the RetroN 5 will release in the UK sometime in September, according to Hyperkin. As of when Amazon and Newegg will be able to fulfill preorders, Hyperkin remains silent. It could be as early as June 6, it could be as late as after the UK release.
The UK September release has been confirmed by Hyperkin. As of right now, Hyperkin's Facebook is getting a lot "what about Amazon pre-orders" questions over the past few hours, and the only real answer we possibly got from HK Mktg was that "they have nothing to do with Amazon's preorders."
All we got is the store owner's story about an initial soft launch from The Cover Project forums as of April 23.
Therefore, I wouldn't bank on any online pre-orders going out June 6 until we get some true confirmation. Some people are trying to contact Amazon directly with no luck so far. Some are even going as far as speculating that Hyperkin wants to sell as many consoles at $140 from the retail stores before even considering the cheaper pre-orders (which, of course have been waiting almost a year now).
I'm going to continue to watch as many sources as I can about this. Having an online preorder myself (@ Newegg), I have a vested interest in this, as many others do here on RB.

Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Re: WELL THIS IS INTERESTING.. Retron 5
Honestly, after the Retron 5 gets to my doorstep I will never buy from Hyperkin again. I'm sure the Retron 5 will be great, I just don't like how they deal with information and customer relations. I hope VGMX counts as mom and pop... Lol
I am buying all Saturn games, PM me with your offerings and I will let you know if I need the game or not! (Everything must be CIB)
Currently trying to knock off all the sports games, would like to get them <$5 each! Of course if you would like to donate them I will gladly pay the shipping!
