Mirrors edge for PC...anyone waiting for this?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

The fact reviews made mention of it leads me to believe that the claimed bad optimisation really was poor performance, and not just gripes over a port not receiving the standard set of enhancements PC users have come to expect, but such is life.

I'm quite happy with my Wii copy, which is the first time I've actually run through the game. At 480p it does look nice, but I can imagine if the same thing was rendered at a higher resolution on the PC without any graphical enhancements it would look quite dire in comparison to most other games. My only complaints come from its design issues more than its graphical fidelity, and it looks like those issues might have been addressed in RE5, so that's cool.
I am confident that the Wii version is best. All the PS2/PC content, plus the original gamecube graphics, which are definitely the most balanced and impressive graphics of any version. Also doesn't the Wii version have true 16:9 support? Gamecube had faked 16:9, meaning it wasn't actually using the full 480p stretched.

Again, I think RE4 is the worst in the series, and that's saying something about the validity of my rage towards the false claims people have against the PC version. I just cant stand when people just take the word that a few idiot bloggers started and spread like wildfire. I want people to think for themselves.

Fair enough point. I hate that general internet consensus style of thought process too. The GTA IV backlash is a prime example of it. It's usually NeoGAF at fault. In this case I think the complaints were justified - performance issues or not, it was a lazy port.

I'm not head over heels in love with the game, as right now I'm taking a break (I got to the cabin defense section before stopping, and that was months ago) from it, but it is very enjoyable. For me it fixes a lot of problems inherent with the series, while exasperating a few others. I'm just glad it broke the myth that survival horror needs ridiculously difficult controls to have sense of challenge. The argument "the controls are awkward because you're not meant to be a Halo marine!!", which is often liberally used to justify elements of Silent Hill as well, always rubbed me as an excuse for really poor design. Artificial difficulty doesn't equal fair challenge in my books, and if the challenge isn't fair then it's pointless.

I loved the hell out of Code Veronica, though, despite it having most of the flaws from previous games.

Controls weren't changed. The Camera is what changed. I seem to repeat this fact every week on this very forum. It's still tank movement, and nearly all the buttons are in the same positions as the old series. The only real change was that instead of aiming high, medium, or low, you had full analog aiming. That's it.

Anyway, RE4 fixed all sorts of "problems" that I never had a problem with. Most of these problems are what represented the entire series. It's no longer Resident Evil anymore.

I loved everything before Re4. Re4 was fun but it wasn't "resident evil" anymore

Well, sure, but tank controls work from a first/over the shoulder third person perspective (have done since Wolfenstein 3D), while I never felt they did in third person. If they worked for then that's great and I can see why you might dislike the change. But I felt they kept enough of the inane ridiculouslness, over the top campness and unlikely door key elements to still give it the Resident Evil vibe.
