Mine was Yoshi's Story. First game I got with the system.

Second was Pokémon Snap, third was Ocarina of Time.
My first (and only games) I owned for the N64 were NFL Quarterback Club '98, The World is Not Enough, and some wrastlin' game. I ended up renting it borrowing from friends for all the other games I player.

I didn't know Path of Exile was "kickstarted" . Community funded games (products) are really getting the high quality treatment. Maybe its the end of the never ending sequels?

Will we see publishers make their own community funding for upcoming games as a voting system on what gets released?

Given most kickstarted games are sequels, spiritual sequels and games "in the vein of", that seems more than unlikely

It's easier to build hype for a sequel than it is for something totally new. All you have to do is basically say "IT'S THAT THING YOU LIKE, IT'S BACK, THERE'S MORE OF IT! YAY!"

The other thing you can do is "spiritual sequel", where the storyline is not connected but the mechanics are. It's something I feel is pretty unique to the medium. So Dark Souls has no story connection to Demon's Souls, but mechanically it's what you would expect if it actually was Demon's Souls 2. The Torment kickstarter is built on the notion of making a game that resembles Planescape Torment from a gameplay and storyline presentation standpoint, but it uses a completely different RPG system and setting. Assuming they deliver on what they set out to do it would be reasonable to say that anyone who enjoyed Planescape Torment would enjoy the new Torment.

Just seen some promo on the book on MSNBC. And the movie will soon be out. It's bad enough that the snes and some genesis games are killing our wallets but I feel like this is really going to hurt and even the mediocre games will increase. What are your thoughts?

You right...
Well at least the sequels on kickstarter got something unique to them unlike COD which feels a lot just like a sequence of numbers put on the same game.

Re: Discussion of N64 above...

Sadly, I missed basically the entire N64/PS/Saturn/Etc. era. I was still rocking the 16-bit games and was just getting into PC gaming at that time.

What did I miss? :D

A whole lot of great n64 and ps1 games....they were great times for the 3d platformer. (too bad that era saw it's rise and fall of popularity come time for ps2/gc to really take over by the end with the few scattered out that were really popular...)

Sadly though I just realized if I do go with modified ds cases for my gba games I'm going to need a much taller bookcase. I've only got a single row of games and dvds on both shelfs and it's already almost completely full. If I had everything in cases I think I'd be out of room or be trying to find new ways to cram it in there for what is already on the shelf but still either loose or in gs sleeves.
My gameroom
My systems: NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, original gba, gba sp(001), ds lite, 3ds, vita, psp, PSone(101 model) ps2, ps3(320gb model), ps4, retron 5, and Dreamcast.
