Is it 60fps like the PS2/PS3 versions?

The PS2 versions are definitely not consistent 60 FPS. Anyways, the Vita ver does have some dips in frame rate and aren't really anything horrible. They're great games and now they are playable on the go.

You can see the PS2 version is all over the place with its frame rate and screen tearing as well. The vita version isn't anywhere as bad as this.

So I got my Vita yesterday and holy crap I think I'm in love. It is one sexy piece of hardware. I got the 1100 model with the OLED screen and it is indeed beautiful. I was actually a little surprised at how nice it looks even though it's been said a thousand times. I was also surprised at how high quality the sound is, even just coming out of the system's speakers. Very loud and clear for such a small device.

I tried a few different games and I think I enjoyed the most playing indie style games on it like Stealth Inc, Hotline Miami, and Spelunky. They just seem made to be played on this type of hardware. I hope many more indie style games are announced for the system this E3. I also played WipEout 2048 which was a good demo of what kind of graphics the system can pump out. Very impressive, one of the races looked so clean and polished it could have passed as a cinematic imo.

My 32 gb memory card was delivered today, so I'll be installing all of the other PSN games I have waiting to be installed from my PS3 when I get home. I'm interested to see how PS1 and PSP games look on the system.

They're gorgeous. If you hold down the PS button while playing one, you'll get options to adjust - ways to set up the controls and all that.

Of note, there's an option to use PSP Color Space on the OLED Vitas, which can help reign in colors if things look too vibrant.

That's why I get a little chuckle whenever someone buys the LCD model and says they aren't worried about the OLED because the LCD screen looks great. Well there's "great", and then there's OLED GREAT. Seeing the two side by side in real life there's just no contest. Now I just wish my PSP, DS Lite, and 3DS had OLED too.

I'm glad I upgraded. Say what you want about the OLED's superiority, but I much prefer the LCD which works better in sunlight (yes, I do leave the house on occasion) and doesn't have black blotches everywhere that are VERY noticeable during any dark scenes in any game. Example: 99.9% of TWD game.

That said, the LCD is a little washed out if you are comparing them side by side. And the blacks are not as deep. But these are things that aren't very noticeable when not comparing side by side. Each screen has its upsides and downsides. Both are among the best displays we've seen in a portable gaming device. Plenty of higher end tablets and smartphones have better displays, but they don't necessarily have the games you want or the control schemes you like.

Both models are good, but the new one feels better to me, has more battery life, and I subjectively enjoy the LCD more overall.

Moving on, been playing FFX HD. Really enjoying it. I don't remember enjoying it quite as much when I first played it. It's just refreshing after the FFXIII games, and the music is great. Tidus, however, is quite hideous... Nothing new there.

Or some would say downgraded

I really only have very minor and tough to detect splotching on my vita maybe it will just vary from screen to screen and I got lucky.

Why do i notice black splotches on my OLED screen? It is only faintly noticeable on a black screen when the room is completely dark.

I don't play games in the sun. I play in the dark because I'm a vampire I guess.

Personally I think this is the most overrated "flaw" of the OLED argument. I only see these during 100% black screens on my Vita. And that's only during a loading transition or what have you. I've never seen them during any actual gameplay.
That said, the LCD is a little washed out if you are comparing them side by side. And the blacks are not as deep.
And the LCD viewing angles aren't as good, and the LCD has more motion blur during movement.

If you're happy with the LCD, more power to you. I'm just glad you're playing Vita at all.
