IDK, I just don't see the point of making repros of games in the original region they were 1st produced.

I'm all for translations of text-heavy games, or ones not previously released in those regions. Multi-carts are obvious fakes, and are a cheaper alternative to those who want to play an assortment of games on a particular console.

It is truly a sad time when you have to worry about whether or not you're buying a legit Genesis game.

Naming names wasn't really being specifically done. You're the one that said "I assume this about my listed stuff" and mostly pulled the spotlight onto yourself.

Ok I think there is is a huuuuge misunderstanding here, Onyx is NOT making reproductions he is simply bringing back bootlegs he finds in China (he is Chinese I believe) no one is saccing carts to make repros of $15 games that would just be silly. These contain no original parts not even the shell (I simply bought some and slapped them in a US shell so they would fit in my Genesis and I made labels so they would look nice).

I think he should probably change his thread title to bootlegs and not repros and he would get alot less heat. Repros makes people think that he is making them out of precious Madden 94 carts.

Yeah, I understand he is just reselling chinese boots.

My comment was simply just a poor attempt at humor. When I started collecting, I never expected to have to worry about buying reproduction games. Now they seem to be everywhere.

No you are not, you are just getting 1-2 VERY vocal people, which annoys me to be honest. Personal attacks (even if they are polite) shouldn't be used on this forum.
Did you read the thread? I know what the poll says, but I also know from reading this thread that of the 12 who voted the other way, most (all?) of those folks spoke up and almost all were passionate, those folks posted a lot and it was more than 1-2 people. Oddly, of the 36 who went the other way only 1/4 posted their reasonings.

@ninja - ok, so those particular boots aren't saccing carts, that makes it less egregious, but it sure isn't obvious from the shell - they sure look pretty close to original, and still run the risk of being sold as originals at some point. I don't care if they come from China or Seychelles, there is no reason to boot Grind Stormer, and booting curse...I mean, the boot is more than some originals go for - it's just silly and I don't know of any other forum that would have had the results go this way. Call it more gamer than collector as far as this forum, ok, but i'm sure that when Magic Knight Rayearth is booted to look dead-on original, a few more of the folks who voted #2 will change their opinion.

Heh the boots that onyx is selling would not be able to be confused with legit Megadrive carts, the print quality on the labels is atrocious, they look like they were just printed on regular paper with an ink jet printer and glued on. I guess there is a possibility of someone with macular degeneration mistaking it for the real deal

Why they boot $15 games in China? Not sure I think they are very strict on what forms of media gets imported into the country because it is Communist, so they have no choice but to bootleg. And those bootlegs are probably 15-20 years old.

Is any of this worry about a $5 or $10 game? Or even a $25 game? So if there was no issue of a accidental repro and you were spending a large amount like more than $50 you wouldn't check to make sure you were getting the product you desire? If I was spending an even larger amount I would ask to see the board for other reasons than fear of a bootleg; damage, switched board, battery missing or messed up.

Easily explained, those who want the change are the ones impassioned enough to comment, as opposed to those who dont mind things the way they are.

I took it to mean 1 or 2 people who were being vocal towards him specifically.
