But they are categorized. Collecting games of a certain category is pretty helpful to people like me who don't always have any real chances to go retro game hunting at flea markets and such.

I think the Disney Capcom games are a good start, since I already own Duck Tales and Chip & Dale.

The point he was making was that "genre" and "category" aren't synonyms.

Then there are no niche genres. They don't exist.

Action/Adventure
RPG
Strategy/Puzzle
Sports
Simulation
Fighting

Those are the only genres from what I gather here.
They have escaped into the mansion where they thought it was safe, yet.

I wonder if the shmups board realizes that they're talking about games that don't exist???

While we're talking about genres, I think the term "action/adventure" is so broad that it fails to describe the game well. This wiki category lists 675 games that have very little in common.

Well I've always seen that action/adventure category for the zelda-like games. By that I mean games that are so border-line that they are almost rpg without a few elements like exp, and in some weird cases the equipment system(to where it's as big of a deal to where it involves many stats like true rpg's do)

I didn't say it was(and didn't mean too i was just meaning action/adventure = zelda-like-ish since you are playing the role of link but not to the extent of a rpg couldn't think of a better way to say it)
