I don't think so... Things don't really seem to be the same as when I grew up and "hand-me-downs" aren't as big of an issue. I can't say for my daughter since she's only 2, but my little brothers all wanted older GameBoys and Pokemon games to bring to school so they could brag about it. In-fact, I'm seeing more and more "retro" stuff at places like Wal-mart and Target for kids. It seems to be the current trend to like older stuff that your parents or older siblings were in to.
(My brothers range from 5 to 16 and they all like Mighty Morphin Power Ranger, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc)

Even when I was growing up, I treasured things my dad grew up with, but maybe it's just because I didn't know him that well.

I noticed this with my niece . She watches old cartoons and was into The Mask and Jim Carrey. Then again, I too saw Snow White and Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory which were released a decade or more before I was born.

It would be exciting to see why kids today prefer older material. I didn't expect The Power Rangers to be part it, it looks too cheesy for today.

When I was younger and watched it in the late 90's it still seemed a little cheesy with the no mouths moving, and everything >_>

hmm... I never heard from kids complaining about shows being cheesy, any show I thought they don't notice it. I didn't...

There was one time RoboCop made an appearance on a wrestling show. I know its as cheesy as gets now, but if I was a 9 year old back then I think it would have blew mind of its awesomeness .

Jim Herd-era WCW at its ridiculous finest.
