Finally getting back into this sort of stuff. Kind of stopped watching anime when Naruto, Bleach, etc started flooding my TV with filler episodes.

Just started watching "Hyperdimension Neptunia: The Animation" and about to watch "Sword Art Online" since I can't seem to get to sleep tonight. Not sure what I think of Neptunia yet, but it seems very "fanservicey". Sword Art Online was recommended by a friend and I haven't even done any research on it yet. Just going to dive in and see how it goes.

Lastly, something I'm more into: Evangelion 3.33. Still haven't watched it yet, but I plan on doing a marathon sometime this week before we go see Godzilla.

Well Sword Art isn't for everybody but I can admit that is a good show(at least to me). It and Attack on titan are the only two shows I've introduced myself to pre-dub. Half tempted to watch the dubs now but I've already watched both of those in their entirety in sub version.

So far I'm really enjoying Sword Art Online. Still have mixed feelings about Hyperdimension Neptunia though.

SAO seems to fill that gap in my heart left by the disappearance .hack// franchise. Honestly, I think now would be a fantastic time to revive .hack// seeing that VR is getting extremely popular again and is becoming a reality.

In the mean-time I can't wait to see where SAO leads. (I may revisit the .hack// games for fun)

Another good V.R. game anime that popped up a while back is Log Horizon. It was a little slow when I started it has gotten pretty good I only have about 3 episodes out the 25 or so it has left.

It focuses a lot more on character relations, and player/NPC politics then combat though. Events take place after an expansion is added on to a game which has been around for years so the majority of the players are maxed out and there isn't a real drive to level up or "complete" the game. They focus more on making the world livable and trying to figure out what is going on.

That actually sounds really interesting and right up my ally. Thanks for putting it on my radar. I'll take a look, but I don't want to overwhelm myself since I'm just now getting back into watching anime.

So yeah, I admit I finally started to watch Log Horizon. I saw clips of it before but never seen an episode. I had a friend who I trust more on anime then most people and he told me to take a look at Log Horizon. I admit, it is good and I think it does work much better then SAO or .hack because they are not looking for a way to get out, all they are looking for is a way to live. Plus, we don't have any Mary Sue Lone Wolf type characters. While trying to get out is a plot point, it is more of back in the mind type thing.

Everyone has to work together in order to fight each other. I also like the concept of not being able to die, because that seems to be a fate worst then death. For people who can not deal with being stuck in an online game, imagine the horror which you try to die but only get revived back later on. However, we also know that addiction for online gaming is real and this seems to take a bit more of a concept with escaping into someplace you are better at.

Thinking of it that way, I also can see how No Game, No Life appeals since that is my favorite anime this season so far because I like how clever the main characters can get in the show. The last episode where Sora figured out that words he knew would work and kept trying to break down the universe until it was destroyed to kill her and end the game.

Didn't want to spoil the respawns in Log Horizon so I didn't mention it earlier but there is a catch that is brought up later in the season.

Spoiler
Think it is around episode 15 it is revealed that with each death they loose a little bit of their memory of the real world. It's only a tid bit of information each time so nobody really notices until Shiroe figures it out after having a conversation about the meaning of HP/MP with a NPC Wizard. Think the worst thing that happened was one person died 14-15 times and forgot the name of a pet he once had  . Could get more serious later on though.

Big driving force as the season goes on is NPCs who unlike players can die and are pretty much human due to their advanced intelligence and the fact that they have been given free will.

Absolutely enjoying the heck out of SAO. I feel like some parts are a bit rushed and it would have benefited from having a few extra episodes. I'm about half-way through and can't get enough.

Log Horizon is next for sure.

I didn't really think that respawn was a spoiler because it is brought up right in the beginning of Episode 2 since typically the first couple of episodes of a series should be watched to get a feel for the series. In fact, most reviewers bring this fact up in the review for the show when talking about the series and why it is different to other shows. Now spoilers for the middle of the series or end is understandable
Such as loosing memory due to respawn which is found out in a later

I was just saying why I didn't bring it up earlier. Didn't mean to put you on the spot or anything :P.

It was revealed pretty fast but it kept me pretty tense for the first episode.
