Well and supposedly some kind of figurine for a keychain that everyone else gets too. I think I'll just stick to getting the normal version so I can get my free game...(which may be pikmin 3 since I would rather find zelda wind waker cib)

The anti-Wii U bias of mainstream gaming media really pisses me off.

Yes it's doing bad, but I don't see why I should be excited for the PS4 or Xbone either, since they don't currently have any true next gen games that are amazing.

So Mario Kart 8 reviews started hitting today and from them we have learned that battlemode is quasi fixed. It no longer has forced bots, but the stages are literally the exact racing maps. Now I did this a couple times on MK64, but this is a bit of a disappointment. Another issue is that there is a forced timelimit for battles (1-5 minutes).
One reviewer stated that while it is more like classic battles, he did have one game timeout since he could not find his last opponent because the map is so large. Now on the flipside, they are saying 12 player battlemode, and that is pretty awesome. Heres hoping they DLC in some battle arenas.

Battle mode was never very interesting to me (besides maybe Crash Team Racing) but I can easily see how some would be disappointed in it.

That's all a matter of opinion you've got to understand. I've come to realize that what I like is becoming more and more of a niche. Mainstream gaming is drifting further away from my interests and I find myself largely indifferent about a lot of popular stuff. I'm mostly into Japanese games so until they start rolling onto the PS4 it's not too exciting of a platform for me yet.

Have you considered that there's very little good news to report on the Wii U?

Have you considered there is very little bad news to report? All the articles regurgitate the same things; sales, system power, and third party support. Repeating the same thing over and over isn't news.

It might be regurgitating the same problems but often it comes in the wake of new sales or company info.

If you look at the Mario Kart 8 reviews, the press seems plenty happy to spread some good news about Nintendo stuff.

The press is generally positive about the quality of Nintendo's software, yeah.
